It wouldn't suprise me if the, uh, "They" wanted GM to get the IPO before November, but I think that "they" may be reaching for straws that aren't going to make any difference. "They're" out of touch with everything else, so why would "their" own survival be any different.

Yep, read a nice little article about GM in the Economist. They actually agreed with the bailout (I'm in that camp as well) and mentioned GM shareholders getting the shaft on thier previous stock.
