GM did their part, so we did ours
GM did their part, so we did ours
My once all GM family rebuked the general one by one starting about 5 years ago. As it came time for each of us to buy a car, we found nothing on GM lots that we wanted to buy. As of today, however, I can proudly say, that we have all, one by one, come back to GM. Not so much because of loyalty, but because they actually have good products that we wanted to buy.
First to come back was my fiance. She turned in her VW GTI for an Ion Redline. She loves embarassing riced out honda's in a saturn.
Next was my mother, who came off lease on her Hyundai XG300. She really liked that car, but it made her feel old. She wanted a sporty red car and picked up a G6 on Saturday.
Finally, today I'm signing papers on an '07 Tahoe. I sold the Evo on saturday and should have my new Tahoe by Wednesday. Boating season is right around the corner, and Evo's dont pull boats.
Now I can say we're all doing our part to support GM

Re: GM did their part, so we did ours
Its always nice to see people shift back to domestics. At my new job, the Honda dealer and I share the same parking lot. I've already ordered the sales staff to do all deliveries on the opposite side of the building, right in the Honda store's window
Why buy an Accord when you can have a 300 for less?
They gonna hate me

Hell yeah! GM is awesome. But one question.. you said one by one, 5 years ago you guys started to switch? Well Within 5 years you all bought foreign cars, then back to domestics within 5 years?? How often do you guys buy new cars??

LOL, now that's a good marketing strategy
Re: GM did their part, so we did ours
I'd strongly consider trading in our 4Runner for a GMT-900 Tahoe or Escalade, but even as great as these GM models are, I don't buy the first year of anything if I can possibly help it (my Audi was an exception simply because it's a lease so I don't give damn). AND also it's a bit bigger than we need.
Let's see GM revamp the Trailblazer family with something of similarly impressive quality (I don't like the current TBs at ALL, especially interior-wise), and I might give GM another chance as well.
Hell, I might also consider replacing my A4 with a Sky Redline, but only on a lease.

The Pontiac dealer I've worked at for the past 6 years is a small dealer...they move an average of 10 new cars a month. This one is a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep that's around 30-35 a month, and I hope to get that up around 40 sometime soon. A little new marketing, the right mix of product, more aggressive approach...should be fun
I'm currently waiting to get an old Civic or Accord in on trade that isn't worth much. I will then park a Ram Power Wagon on the hood of it, with a sign saying "We crush the competition." I then plan to park it as close to their store as I legally am allowed to. Yeah, its a little redneckish (ok, its a LOT redneckish...), but its a big blue collar town, so it should work well
The guys all loved the idea, so its just a matter of time until a cheap Honda shows up...
Like I said, the guys at that Honda store next door...they gonna hate me
The place I'm going to work for needs an injection of life to it, and I think I'm just the person

I'd stop by to check that out even if I wasn’t really looking for a new car.
Re: GM did their part, so we did ours
We have all domestics right now, but its its looking about 2009, 2010 we'll hopefully be in the market again for a new car, performance orientated coupe or sedan...
GM had it easy with me with the Camaro and Avalanche, because they were unique vehicles that just drew me in.. However, now on perf coupes and sedan's there's good competition out there..
On the GM side of things, in my perfect world, in 2009/10 I would be in a GM dealerhsip, undecided if I should get a Camaro(raw intense performance), a Monte Carlo (rwd perf-lux), or a rwd v8 impala(large perf sedan)..
IOW, the different varieties of the "global rwd platform" GM keep saying it would be able to provide.
