GM denies any more brands under review
GM should sell Saab. It has never made a profit since being owned 100% by General Motors. US sales are less than 40,000 units annually with a network of only 260 dealers.
All this brand is doing is siphoning funds from core brands such as Buick/Pontiac/GMC (with 3,000 US dealerships.) GM will increase market share by allocating funding to its core brands rather than wasting time with Saab. Lutz called Saab the "crown jewel" of GM on his fastlane blog. Just because someone is paid $20M yearly it doesn't mean he has the right answers.

As bad as things are for GM right now, can you imagine how bad it would have been if GM still lacked a 4-cylinder engine that compares with what the Asians offer?
If GM does indeed begin relying heavily on its ecotec, they'll be thanking their lucky stars for that quirky, money losing brand. Personally, I look forward to driving a turboed I4 Camaro - just as long as they don't move the ignition between the seats.

GM could stop selling Saabs in the US, but honestly that probably doesn't cost them much if anything.
Saab's expertise in designing small engines is a major score in thier book. I'd say it's also a premium brand that's both well respected and its image hasn't been sacrificed. they just need to intro newer, better product...
