GM bankruptcy thread

since its becoming clear and clearer that it's going to happen some time in 2009...

guess the month! then when it actually happens we can bump the thread and see if we were right or not

THIS THREAD STARTED IN THE LOUNGE AND WAS MOVED TO AUTOMOTIVE NEWS. i figured this was a lounge style thread and not something for this forum thus why it was posted in the lounge. sorry automotive news people, this thread does not belong in this forum.

****ers better not die until 2012!

but wouldn't be surprised if they filed Chapter 11 and re-aligned the company.

Is it clear that it's going to happen? I haven't been following the news but I figured after the government bail out they'd at least have enough time to see what kind of impact the Volt made on the industry.

i've seen a few articles claim mid-2009 is when they'll run out of cash

they're burning $1 billion a month and are down to like $12 billion cash remaining and its difficult for them to borrow money.

Black Monday and Black Friday were in October. 3rd quarter annual reports are always the worst.

October.

October. Summer sales will be low, and they will be forced to file right before winter.

Volt alone will not be able to save them.

Ya, I noticed that BMW is getting in on the pluggin action too so the volt won't be the only fully electric kid on the block. (by fully I mean that even on gas, volt drives a generator instead of the wheels)

The media are dirty slimy dogs. I wouldn't listen to a word they say!

I wouldn't either except that GM loses $2500 per automobile they produce due to Union (UAW) involvement in the company. They have a death grip on the company and they are slowly choking it out of existance. Per this article I read about GM's woes.
