I have rencently started to like the split bumper look of the early 2nd gens. Though I really only like the first couple of years of that body.

I'd like to see a mix of all Gens with some new, but if I had to pick 2 Gens to base it off of it would be the Third Gen and the 1st Gen because they looked the best, especially the Third. Give it those looks, IROC-Z like handling, 4th Gen speed and braking with better sound and more TQ and I think it would be a seller.

The reason I think we'll see more 1st Gen cues than anything is because of how people are so "after" those cars right now. Thirds are still kinda young and pretty fresh in peoples minds while 1sts are a really sought after 3 year only deal from 36 years ago, and every1 knows which year they like best and whatever and wouldn't mind owning 1. I mean I know kids that just got their license that are looking to get 1st Gens. Around here with that crowd it goes in popularity Gen-wise like this: Third, 1st, 4th, 2nd. I don't want all-out retro though like the 05 M*stang, not even a "retro" Third Gen, it takes away from the uniquness of the originals when you go all-out and doesn't make much sense. Cues are cool, keep it at that and use some new designs.

I like the 3rd gen Camaros. Light and they have space under the hood and a decent interior. But evolution is key. None of that retro junk. The majority people arent into that retro stuff and I know I'm not. Maybe a cue of 3rd or 4th gen Camaros can be thrown in subtlely but the best chance of success is for the car to evolve. Modern, sleek, powerful, Camaro. I'd like to see a hatch on the car and that can be a good enough cue to the Camaro's past. Make it fresh, for the most part anyway.

I like cues from multiple gens. I love the RS split bumper front end and 4 round tail lights from the early 2nd gens. I love the agressive stance of the '85-'90 IROC-Z....and just 3rd gens in general. The '67-'68 have a certain clean elegance of design to me too.

So, wrap this all up in 182-185" overall length, with very short overhangs and an agressive stance.

I think an early 2nd gen (70.5-73) Trans Am* inspired canyon carving Z/28 would be freaking awesome.

*the race series, not the firechicken.

What generation should it be based on?

None.

Why?

Retro sucks.

Then how should it look?

A evolution* of the 4th gen, although not a copy. It can have a few cues of 1,2,3,4 gens thrown in, however; the car shouldn't be a carbon copy of any gens.

*Evolution, meaning if you look at a third gen, and a 4th gen, you can see that they have similar styling, but aren't the same. The two front ends look almost the same, but aren't.

I think the early SCCA Trans Am racing series is THE series that defines Camaro racing heritage.

Let's make the best of it. Let's get the next Z/28 done right!

The only thing I would question here is throwing in styling cues from all gens... could end up with a "Frankenstein Camaro" kind of thing...

I think it should evolve off of the 4th gen. I think it should keep the 4th gens style, but have sharper lines (like more newer cars are doing) and more beef in the rear panels above the wheels like old muscle cars. I'm completely happy w/ that.

I'm not too big on the 2nd Gen Camaro... if you're going to go retro go 1st... 3rd was too recent IMHO. I sure do enjoy the newer F-Bodies though, so evolution DEFINATELY works for me too.

... on a side note ... oddly enough I DID like the 2nd gen 'Birds... hmm

I don't care what they do... as long as it's still a TRUE F-Body (RWD and top model w/ a strong V8). I'll also sit and silently pray that they bring back my Birds in the same form, even though I know it's unlikely.

No! I meant that the car, if the designers wanted, could put an Iroc-like hood on a 5gen(not that I would like them to). I don't want the best parts of ANY gen thrown in to make a new design, that would look odd. But a few, could be okay so the car's stance says "Camaro", although not overly do it.
