Talking Generation 5 Camaro

I know everyone knows that Pontiac is about to release the GTO. I just recently looked at Pontiacs website and found out that it will have the LT1 engine with 350 HP and a 6-speed tranny and RWD. Maybe chevy insn't too far to follow in the release of the new Camaro which I believe will happen. I think the GTO replaced the Firebird and they just put Camaro on Hyatis for a year or two.

The LT1's time has long since passed. They dont even make replacement blocks anymore. Perhaps you mean the LS1 which the GTO will be equipped with when they arrive very soon in the US from Australia. As far as the 5th gen is concerned, we still have at least 3-4 years until they hit the streets if they ever do again.

Not until 2007 at least for Camaro or Firebird. Something about not being able to legally use the name because the plant was shut down, or something like that.

www.gminsidenews.com story has the most accurate and up to date info. Understand that some is speculation and educated guesses, but by far the most up to date story!

There's no pictures from GM of the 5th gen Camaro, so every picture you now see is just someone else's idea.... and many of them are simply dreadful. The one bright light, though, is GM (primarily Chevrolet) and Ford's newly aquired habit of releasing drawings about 18-24 months before they see the streets. At GM this happened with the Malibu, Colbalt, & HHR. Could be a decent chance at least a drawing will show up during the upcoming auto show season.

Ikelleyharley, though the Holden Monaro is an excellent car to serve as a modern version of the a 60s era GTO themed muscle car (roomy, fancy well appointed interior, generally low keyed exterior, & a whole lotta power) in it's current specs it's not the 1st choice I'd make for a new Camaro. GM came to the same conclusion some years ago, and though I initially strongly disagreed, after seeing & driving a Monaro, I see why.

It's a fantastic car, great handling, well made, & about Mustang sized, but it's in a different league. "Pony Cars" have always been about head-turning sporty style, GTO's have been about stealth, tire-melting performance.

GTO replaced Firebird only as far as having a performance car with a V8, but it most certainly didn't replace the Firebird any more than Corvette's filling in for Camaros. GTO is filling in for the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe!

We're talking entirely different creatures here.

Thats just a picture of the Opel Insignia. Thats not a Camaro, just a photshop type deal using the Opel's picture. Read the caption below it. Just a rendition and done with no more info that has been provided in the article.
