G8 Coup?
Thats what the GTO should have looked like back in '04! (But I do not think this car should be labeled as a GTO, it should be G8...something.)
This would be a GREAT addition to the G8 sedan and ute!

Other than the grille, this looks pretty much like the sketches that showed up in several of the car mags as the 2008 GTO. A lot of the work for this was probably already done before it was decided the GTO was going to be discontinued.

Looks great and would make a very nice addition to the G8 line. Plus, they wouldn't have to depend on a 2-door only for sales volume.

The problem is Holden are going to do a major refresh on the zeta platform in 2012 (just over 4 years time). IF Holden work their butts off and got the coupe out in 2 years they would get 2, maybe 3 years of sales out of it.
The coupe would be a short term prospect, if it comes at all.

To those of you who said that this project was long dead, was in no way happening, was nothing more than a bunch of math in some computer, and didn't believe me when I said this program flew in under Camaro's development, I now consider myself vindicated.
That's the plan..... should GM give final approval.... Which based on the lated word I'm getting, I'm now raising from 60 to about 1 in 3 in favor.
There's roughly about a 8-12 month decision lead time needed between final approval and production. The Holden coupe was scheduled for production a year after the Ute, and the G8 coupe (formerly the GTO) was scheduled for the fall following the Camaro, so there's still plenty of time if Holden plans sticks to that schedule.

Aus $ is worth 90¢ US and will probably be 1 to 1 by later this year. How will that affect the G8 coupe?
and for the record I think the LS3 versions should be called GTO and the others G8 coupe. That is pretty much how things were in the old days.

Looks like the Coupe60 we all drooled over, I mean discussed not too long ago.... sans side outlet exhaust and wearing fresh paint. Still looks good too.
G8 coupe and maybe GTO for the high end model as was suggested would be fitting..... I'd still call the lower end model a Grand Prix though but that's me. We can argue about the image/quality/execution/reliability/whatever of the car formerly known as Grand Prix but this coupe is the spiritual successor to the GP, period.... the name fits and should still apply, IMHO.
It's a hot looking car, I hope GM finds the cash, the stones or some combination of the two and just builds it already - a last hurrah for Zeta before the CAFE hammer falls.
