Re: G6 convertible dead?

FWIW, I just got the latest issue of Pontiac magazine yesterday (GM's publication) , and it has the G6 convertible on the cover, and a huge story featuring the G6 hardtop convertible...

Re: G6 convertible dead?

That would be bad news, this is one market segment GM has no models (as I can recall) and could really use one.

It's delayed, as we all knew. Still ready for spring as far as I know...

Re: G6 convertible dead?

This is exactly why companies don't announce stuff really early. Because every little delay causes negative rumors like this one.

What? Don't announce stuff really, really early? Not only has it been announced, it's been on display at shows and on Pontiac's website for months.

Pontiac made absolutely no secret about this car.

BTW, it's still on:

Re: G6 convertible dead?

God, I hope not...I need something I can get my hands on and sell. Solstices we will have a VERY hard time getting our hands on. Hopefully, these cars will be different.

No, sh*t Sherlock I post read and post enough to know that. I am saying that if GM hadn't announced the G6 vert until say January and they said it would go into production in the spring it would have been HUGE. People would have been talking about how quickly it got to market and how smooth it must have been. Instead they said Hey we will build this car but not for a few years. Bad business move you gave the competition more time to see it before it hit the streets AND then it gets bad press because it is taking longer than expected.

Re: G6 convertible dead?

It would definetly benefit GM to do its best to get a convertible hardtop out at this pricepoint into the market; people will definetly buy this car. It would be wise to have it completely done before spring arrives, instead of releasing it in the end of fall/early winter like they did with the Solstice.

I agree with you, but, to play devel's advocate, GM needs to build all the excitement it can, so I can see where announcing pending models this far ahead has more (potential) benefits than pitfalls.

Re: G6 convertible dead?

As long as GM gets the G6 verts on the road at all, its a huge deal for them. G6 is one of the best volume cars they've come out with in years. The convertible will sell and sell. Even if GM drags their feet even more to make sure there's no issues. Do it and get the convertible on the streets. Has to happen.

GM was trying to create excitement for the G6 with the convertible by letting people know it was coming -which BTW, was the right thing to do.

Now read and regurgitate that.

OK.....i'll take the bait and speculate on this one......

Chevy is producing a high volume RWD chassis. there is a coupe based upon this chassis slated to have a "design study" at NAIAS. we believe this to be the next generation Camaro. now, like Josh said, there is a new Pontiac model coming "very soon". could this new model be based upon the same chassis the Chevy coupe will be sporting, or could this be the RWD sedan based off "Zeta"(you guys know which one i mean). hmmmmmm.........
