On the subject of eight cylinders versus six--another hot topic online--Stracke said GM is not testing a V6-powered Corvette. However, asked whether a hybrid powertrain will ever be offered in a Corvette, Stracke said, “That is an interesting idea.”

Like it even better if they called it ZR1.
It seems like the TT V6 is becoming a popular idea and I know the CAFE implications but I just never saw it for the Vette. The Vette has such low sales numbers in comparison to the rest of Chevrolet and GM for that matter that it's fuel economy no real impact on CAFE. The bad news is that the Vette is actually fairly good on fuel economy and is an asset to GM's numbers. I would just think that when the C7 arrives and if the current trend continues in lower weight that a truly modern Gen V V8 would certainly match the C6's fuel economy numbers if not beat them. Why water down the Vette with a V6 if it's not necessary.

It's looking like GM will offer a TT 3.0L as a premium option on various sedans and crossovers within the next 2-3 years. Most likely in the ATS and possibly the 6th gen Camaro too. I doubt if it'll see service in the Corvette though.
I'd guess power in the 350-380 range.

Well - the next gen V8s are said to be smaller in displacement(roughly 5.5L), more fuel efficent, yet at least as powerful as the LS3.
As for the C7 Corvette - why not let it be a V8 powered hybrid. Just imagine a V8 C7, that has more power, and better performance than the current C6, yet still get better fuel economy than a 2010 V6 powered Camaro. Sounds like a winning combo to me.
As for the Alpha Camaro - truth is the 2010-11 Camaro could stand to drop 200-300 lbs at each level. With at least a V8 on the topline model (Z/28).
Also here's another thought for GM to consider - why not make at least a hybrid version of all their models. Or make the hybrid as a standard for all models.

Nobody that's still paying attention. 5.5L is for the C7R -- last I heard there was no indication that the production engines would get that displacement too. I believe the rumor was started by Motor Trend -- not exactly a reliable source.
to all of you that are freaking out about the C7 with a V6 twin Turbo...
remember.. this is not official from GM. and how many times have we heard that the next gen corvette is getting this and getting that.... mid engine this,,, AWD that....
and GM proves us that they know they have a perfect DNA for the vette and they don't want to mess with it.
I think the next gen Corvette will be more of the same but more tuned than ever before. I am not worried about GM putting something in the Corvette that it doesn't belong.

It sounds too foreign to me. And I do realize that it's built in Korea, the point is it sounds low rent and is one of the weakest names GM's come out with for a product.
