$22K-$25K for an '08 or '09 Z/28? Are you guys serious?

Neons will be going for more than that by then.

What features would you expect your Z/28 to have for $22K?

Like I said wishful thinking not realistic. I just don't want them being rediculously priced like they are now, they aren't affordable to young people. 2008-09? You know something that we don't or is that just a guess?

I guess this is the age old dilemma...a company makes a car that costs too much for those who want it, to afford it, but it's not nice enough for those who can afford it, to want it.

I can't concievably imagine a future $20K Camaro being desirable enough for many people to want to buy it...and yet the Camaro must remain affordable to thrive.

I'm just guessing...but if we ever get a modern 5th gen Z/28, with all the performance goodies we yearn for, even if content limited like the Z06 (which will help hold down cost), I'd expect to pay around $30K.

Of course, I would expect V6 base models could go for several thousand dollars less.

Maybe a V8 option on the base model (without the Z/28's more exotic wheels/tires/brakes/suspension/etc.) could get a V8 RWD car to enthusiasts for substantially under $30K.

If they expect sales to rebound back to likes of the 3rdgens.When they bring the 5thgens out, they would have to build Z28s for $25K(and advertise) or imports will continue to be popular.Camaros will be like the Corvette if they don't make them affordable again.

Exactly. That is 1 of the ingredients, IMO, $28,000 for the top car around 06-07. A little more expensive than whatever the imports are going for at that time. Even if its cheaper than the M*****g. The idea is to make a great car at a low price so the kids that want real performance will get into the real deal and get them back into the right thing.

It's true 3rd gens sold well. But let me assure you....comparitively speaking...they were not cheap.

The sticker price on my '89 IROC-Z coupe was $17,787. It was not loaded. Aside from the G92 package ....I was very selective about options.

To put this in perspective...a well optioned Mustang GT could be had for around $14K. A stripped 5.0 LX sedan could be purchased for around $10K.

Same year GTA's were going for well over $23K.

3rd gens sold for many reasons....however, low price was not one of them.

What engine you got?? The base price for an IROC-Z28 Coupe in 89 was $14,145. It was a good amount in its time when they were new for the younger buyers, but better than today. And they were a much hotter desired car than the 4ths so more people were willing to pay, and imports weren't selling as they are.

Why can't we get a loaded V8 Camaro for under $25K?

You can get a WRX for $25K that has AWD and a Turbo 4cyl.

A RWD pushrod V8 shared across several cars can't beat that? That same car on an architecture that was 20 years old couldn't? No, someone was just upping their profit margins.

I think a RWD V8 Camaro with IRS, great handling, etc. should come to us for ~$25k on average.

It's not impossible, it just seems impossible for GM to do. Which is fine, I'll gladly move to a company that can provide me with what I'm looking for in an automobile.

The genie is already out of the bottle.

People have paid that much and more for their 4th gen Camaros.

And its too much, I've heard so many complaints from the people that actually did buy 4ths about the prices. And they weren't younger dudes, they weren't people who really would make the market bigger and give alot of sales.

and are they paid off outright? No, more people are paying notes than are buying them and the ones that have paid them outright right then and there make about $50-80K a year.
You said that you paid almost $18K for your '89 IROC,which was not far off the starting price, and wasn't loaded? Today you pay $23-24K starting out on a Z28!$20K got you a loaded '91Z28 350tpi!
