Future of Camaro
I've been reading this board for some time, (maybe over a year now) and all that is said about the Camaro returning are just rumors. There is no solid evidence or official evidence from GM--in fact from a recent post that I came upon, Lutz says there won't be a Camaro period. I understand this subject is brought up a lot, and I do understand that there are people on this board with connections to GM, but answer this one question: if there will be a Camaro soon, then why any thought of it returning is kept in secret by GM? Why can't GM straight up say, yes the Camaro will return, etc.? Many will mention the "contract" that GM cannot violate, but I still do not understand why can't there be an official word about a possible future of the Camaro/Fbody.
On the side note, I wish that GM would be so devoted to their cars like Ford is. Look at the Mustang right now, Ford is backing it up 100%.

That's a valid statement/question, though I can already see people saying "it's already been discussed, look it up."
I say to that, if you know it's already been discussed, could you fill us in? Just an observation I made.
As to the question, I don't know. I think that if GM was serious about bringing the Camaro back, it should get its act together and make some sort of confirmation. Without a definite answer from GM on this, they will lose a lot of customers, especially with the backing that Ford is giving their new Mustang.
Just my 2 cents though.

Well, here are some good places to look...
Read the last Lutz quote again. He confirms the contract issue, but of course doesn't go into detail. An article I found from a while back talks about incentives GM received from the Canadian government in order to keep the plant open there.
Read the thread "Buick #1 on Zeta list" or "Some interesting news from Australia" (on page 2 of threads). Also "GM News Release" Thread. The first confirms the Chevy Performance Couple on Zeta. The last has many articles with even Lutz saying that Chevy and Pontiac will receive Zeta cars. We know the Pontaic will be GTO.
Also read, "GONGOS Survey"....Do a search and you'll find it. This was a styling clinic that GM did with a concept that could hardly be described as anything but a Camaro.

Ok heres a few things to point out.
If you guys listen to anything you should already know this.
1) Back as early as the mid 90's GM knew the Camaro would not Make any 2000 models (but they did because of a couple people.)
2) Camaros didnt always sell that good.
3) The Dude before Lutz didnt really like the camaro. Lutz came in & started shipping his guys out to shows to talk to people Like us to get Ideas on what they wouuld like in a new camaro.
4) NO new platform was made for the Camaro
5) The Newer camaros (99-02) Didnt mean all of Fed Regs for safety.
6) Contracts of the works & they needed to close the ST. Tres. Plant.
So get over the fact the car is gone for now & hope for the future of the car. GM Might bring it back if people stop Complaining.

I just think thats the way most car compnaies operate. Deny, deny, deny. It would be pretty early to announce anyhow, seeing as it would be 07 or 08 before a Camaro might show up.
The Solstice was just announced for production and it will be an 06 MY. I think GM has to give us a concept Camaro--then make us wait months and then say they will build it for xxx MY

Well, I certainly don't think complaining people...will prevent GM from bringing back a Camaro....probably, just the opposite!
If I were GM I'd be very happy that people are complaining. These complaints are rooted in passion for the car.
How easy it would be for GM if the Camaro name meant nothing to people. They could then call it anything. Maybe even one of those computer generated names...like Cerlumina , or something.
But of course, that's not the case. The Camaro name has meaning to many people. I think we'll need to wait awhile...but I'm sure we'll get something eventually.
The trick is this: Keep the passion going, until a car comes to match it. Some just won't be able to last that long.

It's all about who has the credibility & who doesn't. If some decide to ignore everything that doesn't belt them upside the head because it isn't some type of official word, no problem. The news is here. It's up to you to believe it or not.
But then you gotta ask yourself why do you even bother to come to a future vehicles forum?
Why come here and say that no matter who actually works in the industry that posts here or drops off information, you refuse to believe it unless it's a press release? Why not simply go to the GM press website? On this site, you actually have to take the time to think & reason to come to this site & sort things out. Some people instead simply want to be spoon fed things.

U want a malibu to come out with a camaro name? No? Because it's a POS with an old name? Excuse me...but are you in the wrong thread? I just got done saying that the Camaro name inspires passion in alot of people.
How you went from that; to asking me if I want a Camaro emblem on a Malibu.....I just have no idea.
To say that you have completely missed the point...would be an understatement.
