Full 370Z Review

I see the 370Z being compared to the Corvette , the Solstice GXP coupe as well as other 2 seat sports cars. I would think that anyone wanting to compare a Nissan and Chevrolet rear drive coupe would compare the Infiniti G37 coupe to the Camaro SS.
I don't think anyone would confuse a 370Z for a Dodge Challenger competitor. Ditto Camaro.

Your point, is well taken - having owned many versions of both F-bodies and Z's; I can say that the two are very different vehicles.
But, I think why many want to make the comparison is simply because to a large extent, the same buyer demographic who buy a Z is at least similar to those that would buy a Camaro, Mustang, etc. and the price points are very similar.

I never understood why some are comparing the Nissan 370Z cars with a Camaro. The only thing the 2 cars share is 4 wheels, rear drive, and a $30,000 price tag. Under those guidelines, you can also compare the 370Z to a Charger R/T, a Mercury Grand Marquis, and a Chevy Silverado. At least the Silverado has 2 seats.

I like Camaros because they are sporty rwd coupes that I find good looking and fun to drive. If I was in the market for another sporty coupe, on a $30,000 budget tomorrow, I would definately look at the Camaro SS, Mustang GT and 370Z. I'd go drive all 3 and pick the one I found most enjoyable.
The G37 coupe is too expensive, as well as too luxurious and soft around the edges and for me to even consider. The BMW 135i/335ci are also both gonna run me well over $35,000 when all is said and done.
Comparing a 370Z to a Corvette? There's over a $15,000 base price difference. Maybe a hardtop GXP Solstice or Sky Redline...

370z (330hp) (3250lb) (0-60 5.1s) (9.85lb/hp) (13.4 @ 104.6mph) (60-0 in 101 feet)
uh... I think the 370z wins in every way, accel and decel.
And I'll x2 the coupe thing. If I wanted a RWD Coupe under 30k, I'd put the Stang, Camaro, Genesis, 370Z, Solstice, etc all under the same banner.

I gave the 370 a look today in LA.
To me, the Z car from Datsun/Nissan has always been derivative in it's styling.
At this point it's very much in the Porsche 911 school. Not quite as taught a design as present day Porsches, but not off that kind of note.
I have a tremendous respect for what Porsche has done with the "911" and it is certainly an icon in it's class.
I don't care for the Porsche styling note that has been around for decades, but it does have it's adherants.
It appears the 370 has some good performance numbers. I'm sure they will do well with it.
The Z thing has never really intrigued me. The GT40 styling phase of the "300's" < Z32 > were, to me, the most interesting Z's styling wise.

I would argue that the public generally sees 2 seats and walks away from it. They can never, EVER, take more than 1 person with them. The back seats in Mustang or Camaro, though not very useful, provide a measure of security, feeling that if push comes to shove, they can put someone in there.
