Full 2008 Malibu pics!
This is what I despise.
People here, you are enthusiasts. You are not the average car buyer that Joe Blow or Joe Mama will buy this car.
You, instead will stick to your muscle cars featuring the V8's and superchargers of the world and say "that's a GREAT vehicle" because it has one or the other, or both.
I'm one of those same people, but lets be realistic. GM is not targeting us with this type of car. GM is targeting us with the Camaro and the Solstice (which I DO own).
I find it somewhat hilarious, but more upsetting.
1) Because the car is discounted from the get go that it is FWD or too "bland" looking. Nobody can deny Toyota's success with the Camry.
2) What car on the road does not borrow styling cues from another, different automaker? From the responses I've read, we have a car that borrows styling themes from the Lucerne as well as other premium automakers. Consider pricing for the Cobalt is not likely to succeed $28,000 and that's saying something from Chevy. Something GOOD.
I'll wrap this up in saying that it's no wonder why GM and other automakers do not give the web much credence in what is written about. What reasons do they have?
The HHR was slammed on the 'net and Lutz laughed. Now, the HHR is the most customized vehicle on the market. The lists and reasons go on and on, but you get the point.

It's been mentioned here many times, but I'll say it once more for you: Toyota's Camry is successful in spite of being bland, not because of it. People buy Camrys for their other attributes like reliability and quality. Not because they're bland.
I'm a bit underwhelmed but we'll wait and see how it looks in person and how it does in the market. I do think there's a little overreaction on the front end...it isn't THAT bad. I'm more disappointed in the rear. Still, you can clearly see that this car has far more attention to detail paid to it from a styling standpoint than the current Malibu, or most any other Chevy sedan in recent memory....when a couple of random fender creases were counted as "character lines".
Interior looks awesome
I really like the black and silver
Exterior looks great for this segment. Its no Camaro but I think it will do real well. Much sportier than the last Malibu I get almost an Acura fell from it. I can't wait to see it in person. You can tell it grew a little in size.

I don't see any of the attitude you describe in this thread so far. Everyone seems to be judging the car on its own merits, not filtered through some 'muscle car' predjudice. Yes we as a group tend to like RWD V8s, but why does that automatically invalidate our opinion that the front end of the Malibu is ugly?
