Taurus is ugly...Monterey has a nice interior.

I can see dealer chomping at the bit with all these special edition Mustang's and the special parts they require

On the bright side least they aren't sketches like all Ford's other future cars at this point.

The Lincoln LSE looks badass, but none of the rest really move me. The Cobra is cool in its own way and I dont really care for the anniversary Mustang's paint job.

Am I the only one who thinks Ford should kill the Taurus and start over? Do people still buy these? I bet Ford sells a lot to rental agencies because honestly it just looks like a bland rental car in my opinion. They need to just rebadge a Mazda 6 or something..

Yup...169k+ so far this year.....down about 10% from last year, but still the best selling domestic car. Interestingly, Impala isn't that far behind with ~148k so far this year.

FYI...I have no data on how many are rental sales.

I'm glad you guys think the Taurus is ugly as well..

Ford Aus brought it out as a mid-size car for people who didn't wan't the Falcon size...

I think even the Ford people bagged the car...so yeah it didn't sell well and it got canned as a import..

I actually think that the Taurus looks pretty d*mn good compared to what it was...

BTW, they are rebuilding it all over again, and renaming it too. It'll be called the Futura I think in '06?

I think they took a step backward with the Taurus, not that the current one is good looking at all. Is the Marauder any different? It looks the same to me.

Na, they are resheetmetalengineering a Mazda6 and calling it a Futura..it has nothing to do with the Taurus and will actually be smaller. For people who want a larger car they can buy the Ford FiveHundred which is a resheetmetal engineering Volvo. Both are currently in sketch phase

Ford doesn't have the resources to engineer all new cars in enough time to save themselves.

The mules forthe Five Hundred and maybe even Futura are floating around Dearborn as I type this. Formula79, I trust your GM knowledge, but your Ford stuff isn't really up to speed.

Quite odd that none of the magazine articles remember the old '70s and '80s Futura:
