Ford's GT & FiveHundred

There will be only 3500 Ford GTs. It will also only be out for 2 years.
Better get on the list NOW!!!

Ford FiveHundred is now slated to replace the Taurus.

hmmm...I'm so forgetful....I seem to have misplaced my $150,000 paycheck...maybe a lightly-modded C6 would be a good substitute?

I thought the GT was going to be made for 3 model years 2005, 2006, 2007.

THe Ford 500 look very boring, but at least it will have optional AWD. I'd hope GM makes a not of this. I'd like to see the Impala SS and Grand Prix GTP get optional AWD.

Did you read the article linked on the far left? There's 2000 some Euro customers in line wanting to purchase one. Too bad only 101 of the GT's are headed for Europe. I'm expecting insane markups on those 101 since the demand far outnumbers the supply.

And some people said they'd have a hard time selling a 140,000 dollar Ford.

Magnum, if and when you find that check, you can pocket 20 thousand or so dollars since msrp is $139,000; not 150,000. But i get the feeling there'll be some form of markup.

They would if they sold it for more than 2 years and all of the buyers who would buy one already have one.

Which is why you keep production low. Keep people on the waiting list. Make sure the demand is always higher than the supply.

A couple of years later, toss in the 600+hp 6.4L v10 shown in the shelby concept. You'll have new buyers hitting showrooms once again. It's all about keeping the excitment up, and the demand just ahead of the supply. Another thing, ship more to Ausi, middle east, asia, Europe and other world markets, so you always have a stead stream of ready buyers. Ex: 2000+ people in europe want to buy it even though only 101 will be given the chance. You still have 1,899 people still interested. You could offer another couple of hundred, and have people in line for years to come.

If well executed, they should have no trouble selling i think.

I think Ford did an excellent job marketing the GT from concept to production...throw in the positive publicity it has received and I don't see any of these sitting on showroom floors for long. As long as the dealer markup is not too insane.

If someone has the cash and the desire to pay $139,000 for a Ford GT, I don't see them being too concerned with dealer markup.

Exactly. I've always been a fan of the original GT40s, Cobras and Daytonas.... but I know I'll never be able to afford any of them.

Maybe they need to make room in the line up for some Cobras...
