I guess I'm among those Pontiac Owners who is still loyal to GM, inspite of them killing off Pontiac.

The car division in the new GM that interests me the most - Chevrolet. IT's actually a very small leap - since Pontiacs have been basically rebadged & reskinned Chevys for quite a while.

Not that Impala isn't, but I don't think that leaves room for "WAY >".
First of all, what does C&D know. I wouldn't take their advise if it was the last car rag on the shelf. They have orgasms over Camrys and BMW's no matter what.

Second, I don't think the Taurus, overall, was intended to be "sporty". The SHO yes. But even that is first and foremost a family sedan. In any case, it's still a whole lot more sporty than anything Toyota has in the showroom - four doors or two.

For the most part nothing...

Just if your 6'5" 300 lbs and set the seat up for comfort, every time you make a left turn and turn your head you see a B-pillar, you lean forward slightly... you see a B pillar, so you lean waay forward, or even worse, lean a bit back and look out the back window.

I mean I could drive the car, but felt like it didn't fit me. I am a big dude but I never noticed that that could be a problem with me in 4 doors, I always drove coupes, which usually have a decently far back b-pillar.

My G6, I have no problem... but one of the complaints online is that though the rear seat is roomy in the G6, the acces is diffucult. Its hard to explain but a TV woudl easily fit in the back seat but... I don't think you could open the door in a way to actually get it back there.

I guess I'm not a loyal GM guy then and I would think I'm not alone in that even on this site. Maybe more to the point, Chevrolet has always been the least attractive GM nameplate for me anyway so I'm not going to migrate to Chevy because Pontiac is dead.

I've owned dozens of vehicles in my life (including some "Eurotrash and Japanese" as someone eloquently put it earlier); most of them have been GM products and most of them Pontiac and Oldsmobile but I've never bought or not bought any vehicle just because of who made it or where it came from; I buy what I like at the time I'm looking.

At the moment; GM isn't offering anything I'm actually interested in; not that I'm planning to buy anything from anybody at the moment anyway, but when I am ready to buy I'm going to be taking a hard look at Ford both because they seem to be making good product and, frankly, because they haven't taken any of my tax money to stay in business, at least not yet!

It's not even close man. Take off the blinders.

Chrysler products are the worst of the "domestic 3." Hell, they're way worse than almost all of the "imports" save maybe Mitsu, Suzuki and Kia.

Word.

I've never understood this brand loyalty that goes on. Sure, if you work for the company I can see it. And yeah, I liked the LS line of engines within GM, so I followed those cars that had it. But for people to go to the extent to support a company like you would your own country, that has most likely never done anything for you, is mind boggling. GM or Ford or BMW or Honda have never done anything FOR ME. Why should I give them some level of loyalty? I care about my wallet and my wallet alone, not theirs. Ford is the one who is making the products that I like now, just like GM was the one making them in the 90s. It's all a cycle. Who's to say that Hyundai won't be making them in the near future?

Or you could say that Ford just had good timing when they mortgaged everything just before the credit crunch hit. This has largely allowed them to do what is in the rest of your post.

Besides, most of Pontiac (I think I read 80%) was fleet sales. So, if GM is going to lose a 40% of 20% to Ford... ok.

Has there ever been a concept of that, or at least a photoshop?

(I suppose a photoshop may not do it justice, ie: CTS 4 door/CTS Coupe look fairly different...)

Yes there was a concept, and yes it was considered, at one time.

Whether what has happened to Pontiac could sway the project to come back, who knows.

Not the best photo shops, but you cat the idea. A real Fusion coupe would look sportier just like with the G6, Altima, and accord

While as a 20 year Pontiac owner - I've found Pontiacs to be basically just reskinned Chevys with the same features & options - with 2 notable exceptions (Solstice & Vibe). What drew me toward Pontiac, instead of Chevrolet was generally the look of the cars, compared to the Chevys. To me the Pontiacs looked Sportier than the Chevys (except for the Corvette).

In recent years this has actually changed in the last 8 years. Starting with killing the Firebird/Trans Am, Pontiac has continued on a downward slide, to the point of losing it's brand identity. While at the same time Chevrolet has been building better looking cars that can actually out perform their Pontiac counterparts.

Still I think it would have been better if GM had at least kept Saturn - since it would have been a excellent import fighter division.
