I wonder how long until the key simply reprograms the shift points in the tranny so going to 60mph under 9 seconds becomes impossible?

For the seatbelt thing, why don't they just go back to some form of the seatbelt that Honda used in the 90's where it moves back and forth when the door opens?

A. Because everybody hates those damn things.

B. Because you still have to manually fasten the lap belt. The shoulder strap alone is insufficient to protect you in a crash.

The automated belts were a way manufacturers met "passive restraint" standards before airbags became standard across the board.
