Ford Interceptor: what's under the skin.

http://www.blueovalnews.com/index.ph..._articleid=438

Ford Interceptor Concept

Powertrain
5.0-liter Cammer V-8

Chassis lengths
Overall length...........................................2 01.6 in.
Wheelbase......................................... ........120.8 in.
Overall width............................................. .76.4 in.
Overall height at curb..................................54.8 in.

Track width
Front............................................. ..............66.5 in.
Rear.............................................. ..............67.8 in.

Suspension
Front....................... Double wishbone-independent
Rear.........................3-Link Design with Panhard Rod

Headroom
Front............................................. ..............37.5 in.
Second Row............................................... .35.9 in.

Legroom
Front............................................. ..............42.3 in.
Second Row............................................... .35.6 in.

It's interesting that it gets a new, more advanced front suspension than the Mustang, yet keeps the live rear axle. I can understand the live axle, (perhaps with an eye towards Law Enforcement), but why the new front? Also interesting is that the concept comes with a six speed manual trans. And it's wheelbase is almost 14" longer than Mustang's, matching DCX's LX cars.

I think I might be inclinded to buy one if the production version has a taller green house. I just think it looks too close, unlike the Chrysler LX cars.

Lovely, now they just need to build it. As much as I bitch and moan about Ford the lineup really isnt all that bad...

Its certainly salvageable, it just has several big holes in it.

Although I'm not crazy about the grille, I'm really feeling this car. I liked it when I 1st saw it, and it grows on me every time I see it again.

It has that bigbodied look only an American car can have to it. But it doesn't look excesive. Very cruiser-ish like the 300C.
Ford should definitely make a derivative of this car. Big Bodied cars are the new SUVS.

Engine access for maintenance should be a SNAP! Look where the hood lines are...

Needs smaller wheels, a slightly higher roof, and a nose that doesn't look like it belongs on the next generation of F150. Then it would make a great Crown Vic replacement .

I still preffer the 427 concept. This just seems to be a derivative design based on it.

What are the expected power numbers for the 5.0 liter engine?

I like it but its a bit too much like the 300C. The awe factor isnt as much as when the 300C came out.

I like it, it'd be a tough call between this and a RWD Impala.........
