It's pretty telling that Ford isn't going to use a more famous name on this car that they actually own... the Falcon.

Good point... especially considering Falcon starts with an F.

Also kind of surprising that Fairlane hasn't been tossed around.

Thats exactly what came to my mind after reading the article. The Fairlane name would fit pretty well.

Fairlane is the 500. That's where they got the 500 from. I had a friend with a mint restored Fairlane 500, very nice.

Wait-a-minute.... maybe Andrew "Dice" Clay owns the right to "Ford Fairlane".

And if they name it falcon, that would be an imbarasment to the Falcon that is down under.
I vote for Faurus...

Since the subject of the Ford Fairlane came up, check this out:
https://www.ford.com.au/fairlane/Default.asp

4 liter DOHC straight 6 with variable timing in the base model, a 5.4 SOHC with 3 valve heads in the 220 model, also with VVT. Of course it has IRS.

If anyone has been living in a cave the past year, and didn't know Ford still makes the Falcon (in Australia), here's the Ford site. Simply click on "Falcon".
http://www.ford.com.au/site_map/Site_Map.asp

(I wonder why the fact Ford uses the "Futura" name in Oz didn't help them secure the name? )
