Ford GT official HP #s

From autoextremist.com
Ford. Breaking News from Autoextremist.com (March 1st at 11:15AM). Ford has just completed its powertrain certification for the new Ford GT sports car, and the final production power figures break down this way: 550HP @ 6,500 rpm and 500 lb.-ft @ 3,750 rpm. The original estimates given to the media were 500HP @ 6,000 rpm and 500 lb.-ft. @ 4,500 rpm, so the new numbers compare more than favorably. That's great news for Ford enthusiasts and especially great news for the people who are confirmed to be taking delivery of the new mid-engined beast.

WOW, I knew they would go to 550HP when they switched to the twin screw blower. I wonder when the Viper will make the jump to 550HP or 600HP.

Ford's getting pretty sneaky wwith their performance cars lately.

First the 300 hp 2005 Mustang GT that actually puts out 320.
Now the 500 horse GT that puts out 550 horsepower.

Before that, there's the 390 horse Cobra that actually does 420, and the 380 horse Lightning is also underrated.

Along with the '99 Cobra that was rated at 320HP and produced how much?

One dynoed at 280RWHP, but that doesn't mean they all will. We will have to wait until this fall to see what they avg.

Ford's got more vehicles underrated by more hp than GM.

Cobra -40
Mach1 -30
Lightning -30
GT(supercar) -50(at least)
'05 stang GT -25

GM
Z06 -20

Gotta stop livin in the past, friend.

All signs are pointing to a ~13.3 @ 106+ car

The NA 4.6 mod motor has achieved parity with the LS1.(The Mach1 already did it last year) The new GT will take it up a notch.

It's really not something to be proud about, taking nearly 8 years to answer what GM did 7 years ago. But there it is.

Let's be a ~tad~ more realsistic here...

The Cobra is not making 430hp. Let's try closer to 410 at best at the crank. (-20)

The Mach 1 is not making 335hp. You're a tad liberal there.

The Lightning is right on the money. I know this because I saw my friend's on the dyno.

The GT isn't even out yet....Ford might readjust the numbers. Good either way.

The '05 Stang hasn't hit the public yet....so all heresay is BS.

You were correct on the only coservative number you gave. Not suprisingly, it was the GM product: the ZO6.

I hope the Mustang does turn low 13's because that will just make the next Camaro that much better.

I disagree. The 4.6 modular is still weaker than the LS1. The only reason the Mach ETs in the same ballpark is because of gearing and weight. From what I've seen, they are still 2-3mph slower than your typical LS1

Thumbs up

IMO, the N/A 4.6 (DOHC or SOHC) still isn't making similar power to the LS1, much less the LS6.
Ford needs another 20-30hp out of the DOHC in the Mach I for that, and time will tell how far off the 3v 4.6 SOHC is. If it's making 280rwhp, that's a good thing. LS1's were making 300rwhp a few years ago off the showroom floor...some making more.
It is, however, the total package that counts.

Average RWHP dynos
Cobra - 365/.85 = 429 rated 390 -39 I was conservative
Mach1 275/.85 = 323 rated 300 -23 over by 7
Lightning - 340/.85 = 400 rated 380 right on

GT - documented by previous post underrated by 50 so far.
We have a documented 128mph 1/4 mile run. At 3300lbs w/o driver, that's a calculated 580hp.

'05 stang ~280(rumor)/.85 = 329 -29 I am conservative based on available info

Z06 - 355/.85 = 417 -12 over by 8

Sorry but the facts don't bear you out. When you're talking numbers, it helps to do a little math first.

I'm not anti-GM, but to anti-Ford folks a neutral person seems that way.
