Ford Focus is the #1 vehicle purchased with Cash for Clunkers
The Detroit News is reporting that the Focus is the number one vehicle purchased under the government program, showing us why Ford's C-Segment vehicle gained 43.6% in July. Ford also saw an amazing 97% increase in Escape sales in July, a tally that was likely improved with the help of Cash For Clunkers.

I think this shows one of a few things:
Ford is gaining positive perception in the marketplace, likely by not being part of the bail out funds.
Ford buyers were waiting for opportunities to step up to new models.
Ford had the cheapest cars in each category and drew in those looking to pay the least.
I do appreciate the Escape increase though. As the owner of a 2008 Escape V6 I can attest to its driving manners, reliability, and ease of ownership. I personally wish it had gotten the 6 speed auto that the 2009 and 2010 models did but it does get better mileage than my 1998 Malibu V6 while having better storage, size, and comfort throughout.

Keep up with the program, man!

Back to the subject, Ford is certainly on a roll this year. $2 billion quarterly profit (impressive by any measurement). Growing market share. An over 400% increase in it's stock price in only 5 months!!!
....and Ford hasn't even gotten their new core models out yet.Taurus comes out this month, Fiesta and next Focus are in final brewing, the upcoming replacement for the former #1 selling Explorer should see some great volume, and both the Mustang GT and the Fusion will get some headline grabbing engines and performance over the next couple of years).
I may have missed the Ford rally, but I'll be buying up some Ford stocks by the end of the month.

It's nice.
And it's not "years" anymore...

Still rather see a car that's another 500lbs lighter than one with 100 more hp to haul it's fat-@ss around quicker though.
Oh well, work on the '14 is underway.
