Ford 2011 5.0 Supercharger package 624hp!

http://mustangsdaily.com/blog/2010/0...24-horsepower/
Surprised I haven't seen this posted yet, if so then delete or move please. 2 different versions the first 525 hp with a 12 month 12k warranty on 93 octane, the second version has the different pulley and puts out 624hp also on pump 93 but no warranty. 624hp on the street has to be insane!

$7,500 for 624HP leaves the pricy Shelby GT high and dry in my opinion.

Way to go Ford, that is some very affordable high performance.

You only get that warranty if a Ford-Lincoln stealership installs it. I wonder how much it would cost for the install going that route? Can't be cheap, that's for sure.

But still, wait about a year or two and pick up a CPO'd 5.0 GT and then slap the 525hp kit on it and you got a one hell of a machine. Based on how the prices of the GTs go, this is real interesting to me. Hell, dare I say get rid of my C5 for it.

Kudos to Ford for staying on their game. Reminds me a bit of what GM did with the 2.0 turbo upgrade kits they were offering. Too bad I had no use for vert, and I'm not going to ever get into a Cobalt though.

WOW!

Are the warranties for the parts only, or if they're installed, your drivetrain warranty drops to a year from install for one and nothing for the other?

Too bad because you are actually missing out on one of GM's best performance vehicles. Ask anyone auto-xing what they think about the Cobalt SS.

Riiight, because that's what most people do on a normal basis; auto-x their cars.

Those upgrades kits weren't incentive enough for me to put up with the rest of the car.

Sorry, but wouldn't you think an auto-x course would be a tell tale sign of a vehicle's performance capabilities? My mistake, I thought we were discussing performance cars. Yeah my Cobalt doesn't ride like a Cadillac or have the fit and finish of a Lexus. Some people can't get past cylinder count or front wheel drive and end up not experiencing some really good vehicles.

I could be wrong but I think the 624hp only warranties parts and labor on the kit. I think your factory warranty goes out the window.

The 525hp kit does let you keep your warranty though.

I would only consider the HHR SS out of the group because of the utiliterian nature of the vehicle and because I can't get an auto in the performance models from the Mazda 3 or Subaru WRX.

I do love the way the Sky Redline looks, but a convertible that small is pretty useless except to cruise with in nice weather.

The thought of an OEM engine upgrade that explicitly is without any form of warranty seems kind of weak to me. They should do a 12 month 12k mile warranty on both.

When Toyota did their TRD superchargers (they still may, I don't know), they didn't change the warranty at all. You could stay with the bumper to bumper warranty or still get a 7yr 100k mile warranty for the same price as always.

Granted, we're not talking anywhere near this sort of power... so I understand the differing circumstances. But still, I'd like to think if I paid for the bigger upgrade that I wouldn't pull out onto the road for the first time, blow my engine, and have Ford throw their arms in the air.

3 months, 3k miles at least??

I really wish they would make a midsize sedan off the Mustang platform.

Ok next question, what gears would be best for the street with this supercharger package? Base or 3.55, I'm not even considering the 3.73's streetable with the blower.

The Mustang is built on the DC2 platform which as I understand it was originally based on the DEW98 platform, but generally cheapened... especially in the suspension design.

Seems like producing a DC2 based sedan would be like producing a cheapened DEW98 sedan... and even most of the DEW98 sedans didn't do all that great.

Maybe you're thinking more about powertrains. But I think they're already doing that... at least with the 6-cylinder, which is being shared with all sorts of Ford models.
