First RWD Impala spy pics?

http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...py-pics-63681/

Almost brings tears to the eyes to know that GM will be readying a large RWD sedan.

Comparing the side profile of that to the '09 Camaro makes me think that there's no way in hell that they share the same platform, so I seriously doubt that these spy shots show a RWD GM sedan.

It looks like it has a Buick grille on it from under the front camo.

That's a FWD car.

Looks to me, at first glance at 2:00 a.m., like the upcoming Epsilon Lacrosse.

I think it is FWD-based AWD.

I just don't get what people are saying about the axle to door gap differences in FWD and RWD. They are saying that FWD cars have more of a gap? I just went outside and looked at my 96 impala SS and my wife's 04 impala. My RWD 96 has about 2 inches more of a gap between the front axle and the front of the door than the FWD 04. Maybe I just misread what they were saying?

The picture of the right front tire just barely off the ground kinda reminds me of the pictures of the AWD GT-R at the 'Ring.

Well I know the badge says Buick under those covers... but I guess you're implying it's no RWDer?

I should know better than to believe tripe posted by the laughing joke that is Motortrend.

You're on the mark. FWD cars will typically have a large front overhang, lots of area between the start of the nose and the beginning of the wheel well. This usually translates into very little area between the back side of the wheel well to door relationship (axle to door).

3 series and the G8 are pretty extreme examples of how far the front wheels can be pushed forward in a RWD vehicle. This relationship would be impossible in a FWD vehicle do to packaging constraints.

It's clearly just another Buick Lacrosse prototype. I've been looking at 'em since September of last year.

LOL, my RWD 96 has a LOT more overhang than the 04, heck, a lot more than pretty much anything on the market now.

It was 'stylish' for GM cars to have large overhangs in the mid 90's. Not so much anymore.
