Finally! An interesting, evolutionary Camaro Concept

I would aesthetically disagree with you there. If the 5th gen will be a coupe with trunk, then I think it should have true, raked (traditional?) c-pillars. What your saying would look similar to the RX-8, which I think looks great EXCEPT for the upright b-pillars that make it look much more sedan that sports car.

I think the rear side glass may make the T-Tops look awkward. That is another part of my concern.
As for the RX-8, I agree... it's C-Pillar is hideous, but I think a lot of that has to do with the suicide doors... I'll throw the 2nd Gen F-Body out as an example of a "roof hoop" design with a trunk that was pulled off pretty cleanly... and I think that can be cleaned up quite a bit more today.
As far as the image, I think it's been panned enough, but let me put a designer's opinion on record, how about someone put something more than photoshopping different cars together. I'm working on something right now.
That's a great Photochop job....but the more I look at SS and derivitives of it, the less I think Camaro. It's too bulbous. Part of the complaint with the 3rd/4th gens were the proportions, and this car looks a bit too "sloppy" for me, if that makes sense.

I think its safe to say that if GM uses the SS concept for a 5th Gen Camaro base then the style will be very polarizing. I don't like any of the SS concept based designes. None of them say Camaro and the proportions are totally wrong for the car. And I see from looking around here I'm not alone. Its a nice design and the style is certainly aggressive but its not a Camaro.
If there's one thing the 5th gen needs less of, it's the bulbous styling.
More sharp creases combined with curves and straight lines can render an aggresive and sporty Camaro that should stay fresh for years to come.

Now, here are some decent comments... something to build on!
I agree the rear compartment area needs to shrink, and I think that would make the doors fill the space better as well, so fixing one thing may solve a second problem.
The wing? Well, it doesn't bother me much, but you can't really get a true feel for the look from this angle. But, yes, I'd perfer a wing that look sless "tacked on" and more "intergrated"
A big concern for me is the rear seat windows... I don't know that I want them on a Camaro... I like the 'roof hoop' look of the 2nd through 4th Gen Camaros, and C3 (78-82) C4, C5, and C6 Corvettes better...

Well, it looks better than the plain SS concept did, but it's still pretty damn ugly IMO. It has Camaro touches that I can definitely see, but I don't see myself wanting to buy one of those (like I didn't the 4thgens either) as a Camaro...
I like it when the tires are wide enough to stick out from the rest of the car, but fenders sticking out of the car with the wide tires looks horrible.
I dont like it, but it beats anything with a giant chrome bar on the grill.
I also think there is too much GTO in that concept.

I like the Chevrolet SS and its' derivatives. I think the front end especially is a natural evolution of the Gen4.
In this example I agree the rear window area looks a little large, and I'd like to see the rear wheel bubble follow along the C6 style a little more.

I like the muscular wheel arches, very reminiscent of the C3. One thing I liked about the 3rd gen F bods were the subtle but noticeable fender arches that were long gone on F4s. I'm not a huge fan of it either, as it screams SS concept to me.
Even with a ridiculously chopped roof, it screams "2 door sedan" to me, like GTO. Fine for GTO...bad for Camaro.

Oddly enough on my drive home I caught myself daydreaming about an evolutionary 5th gen...something that follows the basic formula of the C6 by drawing styling elements from previous generations without being blatantly retro...
Anyhow, I DO NOT like the SS. I was a fan until I saw it in person at the Dallas Auto Show last year. It's extremely disproportionate and the rear end alone makes it look like a life sized Hot Wheels car.
I thought the same thing, but look at the last generation Supra's with the targa off. I think the styling element can work.

That's all we need is a Camaro that looks like something like 4th Gens or the SS Concept. The SS Concept was not, is not, and never will be a Camaro no matter what you do it or how you Photo Shop it. If there's more people out there trying to make a Camaro out of that wierd looking thing, just stop. Seriously.
