Explain...
Re: Explain...
Just proves a point.... the lacking quality, the mindset of americans regarding american sedans/suvs. The only way anyone would buy a gm vehicle, is with rebates. GM's and to some extent ford's cars are not bought because they are good, they are bought on the most part because of big big rebates.
Still, here is a question for the gm faithfulls here, like Al, why would sales be higher for Asian's, with less incentives? Why would a consumer spend more money on a product? Here is a hint, products. This is a consumer driven economy, Every manufacturer builds what the consumers want. GM builds what they think we want, and then throw rebates in our faces.
Here is a realistic story, I am selling the z to get something more practical, atop of my list are VW Passats, Audi a6's (certified), Maxima, g35.
I am also going to give a look to the GTO.....why ? Because of employee discount plus the rebates en masse by GM. Do I want the GTO? Nope, not on top of my list, might I end up buying one? Perhaps, if the money is right, if I can get it for $22k

...Because GM is too busy competing with itself...
It's getting harder to use the rebates to pull in customers because people are finding out that that rebate amount or more is taken out of the value of the car when they sell it, so there is essentially no benefit to the rebates.
Plus, while GM is devoting its resources to cranking out another iteration of the SAME product / platform for EVERY SINGLE DIVISION, they are leaving several segments of the market wide open....(Ford and Chrysler aren't doing a whole lot better, but Chrysler is at least paying attention).
Where are the decent, sporty station wagons?
Where are the low cost, sporty cars?
Where are the diesel cars?
Where are the manual transmission cars?
Where are the Hybrids?
Where are the Hatchbacks?
Where are the low cost convertibles?
At best, the big 2.5 have spotty coverage of most of the above segments, which are all covered by imports to varying degrees.
PS: Aeromaks, I'd stay away from VW/Audi! I'm not going back until they get their quality together!
