That E90-4life guy seems to know his stuff, nice to see a BMW owner without a big head, I cant even try to talk to my uncle about cars, he has his head so far up the tail pipe of his 3 series....

It's always nice to see guys that can objectively view and appreciate a car no matter what its mission in life.

Unfortunately that's a lesson too many people on the f-body boards haven't seemed to learned, with the constant belittling of Civics or other supposedly "lesser" cars. (not aimed at anyone in particular, just a general observation that irks me.)

I especially like this part of E90-4lifes post
No matter how you look at it this will be the car to watch, and above, the car that could help turn things around @ GM. GM doesn't need to be saved, they've got the smarts and the cash, now it's time to use it. It's product, product, and product that's paramount in this situation.
It looks like the majority of those people can appreciate the Camaro, even if they dont exactly know all the info.

I completely agree, Camaro’s have always been my favorite but I enjoy and respect everything from old Mustangs (I love SN95s) to new 350Zs

Hey I even think the styling on the new Civics is pretty darn sharp

Baby boomers were teenagers when classic Camaros ruled. Baby boomers make up the majority of BMW drivers out there. So it definitely makes sense that a retro design would appeal to that generation.

Don't think that's it. The Camaro concept isn't a retro design.

Where's the praise for the Challenger?

They are praising the Camaro on it's own merits.

Re: Even the BMW guys like the new Camaro!

If the car itself , design aside ....is a absolute homerun , Chevy will have no problem getting people to buy a Camaro that didnt exactly fit the demographic before . The design , from all Ive heard of people both online and in person is loved by almost everyone , the LS family of engines ARE in high reguard no matter who you talk to . Get the actual car under that sexy skin dead on and people will flock .

huh? Well, to me it absolutely is a retro design in its overall shape. In the details and such it's more modern. It's a better compromise between modern and retro, but you have to admit it's obviously modeled after the 60s Camaros, not the 2002s.

Just making a vehicle retro isn't going to make it an instant hit. The Challenger feels too much like rehashed charger and even 300C. It's hard to generate hype the 3rd time you release a new revision of essentially the same thing.

What merits? We know next to nothing about it except it looks like; and that's what I'm saying... they like the look. The retro look is appealing to that generation, especially. But GM did it with an extra 'kick' with the modern touches, which I think was a very good decision.
