Very impressive looking...I still believe the lack of a 3500 is idiotic though. Even if the "low end response" from the 3400 is adequate, 185hp these days is an also-ran number from a V6. At least the 200 mark sounds slightly decent. Maybe its purely pyschological, but 200hp just SOUNDS more impressive than 185. Also, the 3500s have supposedly been substantially revised to be smoother. Let me tell you...I drove my '02 Grand Am GT for 23,000 miles...and what dissapointed me MORE than the cyclops dash was the growling from the 3400. Very unrefined, and annoying...
WHen my dad and I were using his TrailBlazer to pick up my dining room set the other night, I thought of how nice it would be to have a small, car-like wagon or SUV rather than the GP sans even a fold down back seat. Looks like the Malibu MAXX would be the choice for me, as I will never own another 3400, unless major acoustical improvements have been made.
I wish the Equinox well, as it looks far better than I thought it would. I love the shape... I just hope it has the refined engine it needs. Thanks to Honda, at least the VUE does

i like it, but like everyone else have a problem with the 3400. that's just a stupid move on GM's part. then again, it was probably done so that the Equinox can be rolled out now instead of 2 years from now when the 3500 will be manufactured in seficient quantities to completely replaces the 3400+3800.
the rear profile looks very Land Rover-ish. classy for a $24k cute-ute.

It is a great looking mid size SUV. Much better looking than a Vue. Although impressive looking, the 3.4 will make it a Dog! It needs the Honda sourced V-6, or the I-6 from the Trailblazer. I would buy an AWD version if they offered either. In any case, looks like I will be buying another Damlier Chrysler vehicle in the form of a Hemi Limited Durango or 300C.

It needn't be the Honda V-6, it just needs more oomph. I just know that the tooling already exists to drop in the Honda V-6 (like in the VUEs), it would be a simple drop in procedure. Not too mention the Honda transmission is already tuned for the V-6. In any case, it needs more power before I consider buying it!

Interesting that someone who works at dealership is doing a review of a car that dealer sells.
So I took it with a grain of salt, which is what you really must do with all reviews, wherever they come from.
The only thing is that he thinks the accleration is the accleration is close to the Trail Blazer. Feeling the same and getting actaul numbers are two different things. Sometimes a car feels faster then what it actually runs or the opposite and it feels slower then it really is.
So we really need to wait for some inturmented times. And of course a FWD is quite a bit faster then a AWD one.
I seriously hope this get the 3.5L next year or the Honda 3.5L or the GM 3.6L---all new effort deserves a better then a 5 year+ old engine.
