4G63 is almost outta here. How about a car that echoes the 1st gen Eclipse to celebrate the motor?

Chassis will be tough. Wonder if there's a small car chassis they could adapt, or if any of the old moldings are still around for the 1st gen. In any case, make it small and a 2 seater. Hmm, chopped Lancer even?

Toss in a breathed-on 4G63 with a strong yet simple components: AWD (but no electronics) 5-speed manual tranny, big brakes, good suspension...Throw in great seats and cheapest interior from the parts bin.

Basically, end up with a 2700 pound, small car with good "guts" that tuners will go crazy over, and sell it for 24K.

 

The new Eclipses look like rolling jellybeans. This one looks like a jellybean with junk tacked-on.

This is the setup it should have come from in Mitsubishi in the first place. Enough of this fwd v6 ****. What is the curb weight on the concept?

err ...shouldnt the 2 door eclipse have stayed what it was instead of the formula shifting into a ugly basic economy sedan ? I mean come on .

Looks aside ....so Mitsu still does know what made the DSM's have such a strong following up until 1999 .

 

great. now all they have to do is drop down a couple of sizes and not make it look so ugly and we'll be back to the winning formula.

I particularly like how they installed the rotors backwards. The slots are going the wrong way!

4G63 and AWD . Styling is very questionable though...atleast some aspects of it.

I think they should bring the 4G63 and AWD drivetrain back on the eclipse. I liked the 1st and 2nd gens alot, but from 3rd gen on, they've completely lost their way.

 

A guy I know just bought an Eclipse. Went out of the office to drive home from work and the damn thing wouldn't start! The battery was dead! POS was only two weeks old.

Mitsubishis have too many electrical problems. Don't even think of buying one.

 

Looks better than the "civilian" Eclipse and is faster, I give it a thumbs up (but I still wouldn't buy one).
