Mitsubishi Eclipse Ralliart Concept
Mitsubishi’s Cypress, Calif. design center conceived the Eclipse Ralliart to showcase the new coupe’s performance potential. Horsepower is up to an estimated 400, thanks to a modified 4G63 turbocharged four-cylinder transplanted from the Evo VIII. In a nod to Eclipses past, the car also gets the Lancer’s all-wheel-drive system. Other changes include carbon fiber exterior panels and clutch, 20-inch wheels, custom exhaust, coil-over suspension, Brembo brakes and a racing-inspired interior.

Entirely new engine. New drivetrain, suspension, new exterior, new brakes, wheels...

Yes, saw that on the Autoweek SEMA page. That is a good looking car. Although not usually a big wing fan, it helps the profile of that car. That would be a fun car to drive hard.

Wow...wow, wow, wow, wow...
I love it. I really, really love it. I really love the shape of the new Eclipse, and said on here before all it needs is AWD and the EVO motor and it would be a home run. If that car can come in under $30k (which I doubt, seeing as how the EVO has trouble doing that), wow...
I mean, what makes an EVO so expensive, really? Would it be cheaper to convert a normal Eclipse to a Ralliart? If it is, and it comes in below $30k (hell, a GT is $25k), I'd covet one. Still won't buy one, but I'd love it.

Amazing how that particular car is so polarizing...you either love it or hate it. Obviously, I love it...which is something I have never said about a Japanese 2+2 ever, aside from the...you guessed it...2nd gen Eclipses
I was shocked when my 50 year old father saw one driving down the street the other day, and before I could comment on it, said "that is a sweet looking car!" I was shocked. He doesn't typically like Japanese sports cars either.

Re: The Eclipse everyone wants...
i like it. alot my friends are into the 1st gen Eclipse GSX turbo AWD cars and i gotta honestly say, they get resect from me. you wouldn't believe what those things can do with just small changes to the boost. i've been one of those people saying Mitsu needs to bring back an AWD turbo version for awhile now. Japan used to produce some nice little sports cars like the Supra twin turbo, the last body style RX-7 twin turbo, and so on. i wouldn't mind seeing them get back into this game instead of the 4 door commuter cars on crystal meth.
