Re: Dogdge Charger picture to hold you over.

As a car, cool. The more rwd v8 the better. But as a Charger, complete garbage. Too high, too big, to square, too many doors, too little like a 68 or even the 99 charger.

It is soo much of a magnum/300c wanna be, it will end up making me like those awesome cars less.

I'm an fbody (and vette) guy first and foremost. That said, there is 1 and only 1 car in history that would make me go for a different brand without a moment hesitation, a Charger. Anyone at the PRI show in Indy this year that saw their gorgeous red charger can certainly understand why.

This car is definately not a charger, and whats worse, it means if they ever get the brains to make a sweet muscle car coupe, it wont get the charger name. Thats a double loss in my eyes.

It looks alright, and I don't think it will grow on me much. It just looks too big (because it is, too heavy and in turn probably too darn slow...) and the 4 doors kill it for me. I was really looking forward to this car, but they really really dropped the ball as far as I'm concerned, and I really wanted to like it darnit....

If I were buying now I would buy a 05 GTO without so much as a second look at the Charger...

Re: Dogdge Charger picture to hold you over.

I just took a trip to Taco Bell in our 300C. I love the car as a family sedan. It's peppy, relativly fun to drive and so far, well built. The motor is sweet in 5.7L form and im sure even better in the upcoming 6.1L version.

While I pulled away and floored it I was thinking what a crime it is for DCX to not put this in at worst a GTO sized/weight car with at least a middle 3 series gear. As I start to enter my late 20s (I know Im a baby to a lot of you) I find my taste changing. I already have a toy (my 850 rwhp Camaro, soon to be closer to 900rwhp) But I dont have any kids and the wife and I already have the 300C so I don't want a Pony Car I want a FAST large 2 door psudo luxury coupe from one of the Big 2.5. My GTO fits the bill 90% But a 2 door 300C SRT-8 would be my dream choice at the moment.

You would think that Crysler would know that there is a market for this type of car. Mercedes makes many Coupes from there sedans and they seem to have a market and do well.

DCX.... Build a 2 door LX car. I will replace my GTO with one in 14-20 months or maybe by then Caddy, Buick or (((GASP))) Pontiac's Zeta GTO offering will have a sunroof, nav., heated seats, 6 spd Auto trans and a real trunk.

I believe Chrysler has a 2 door version of the 300C (and a convertable version) scheduled for 2006. I remember reading this in a magazine a few months ago, at the same time they announced the SRT-8 version.

Yuck...that front end looks horrible. On the Magnum, it looks so much better. How did this happen?

To be honest with you, I was shocked about the front end as well.

I got an early peak at the sleek nosed NASCAR bodied Charger (without decals, stickers, or paint) and didn't believe the Car & Driver rendition when I 1st saw. Little did I realize how that a NASCAR "stock car" would actually nothing in common with even the shape of a production car's nose.

It looks as if the Viper smashed its face up on a glass window, and the car kept going fowards.
What is with the non-aerodynamic cars?

I like BIG fast cars. My 96 Impala SS is a true muscle car. The new Charger looks cool, and with the Hemi, it's a true muscle car. Muscle cars dont have to have 2 doors...in the early 60s, you could have ordered any 4 door B-body with a 425hp 409 and 4spd from the factory. That would have been a killer muscle car. I love the fact that it looks non-aero (like a brick). Looks mean.

While I don't doubt those pictures have a lot of truth in them, I don't think those are 100% real. They look photoshopped. Even if it is to get around any legal issues such as the leaked Z06 pics being changed a little. I followed the url for the pics back to his directory and he's got a ton of chopped Chargers.

I don't like the new Charger. There are enough things that I don't like about it that complaining about the extra doors would be wasting my breath. Many others complained about the Magnum and 300C though, so maybe when this hits dealerships, people will start liking it more. Who knows...

Doubtful...very,but then again there are people that don't care about the car's history that probably will buy them.

I think that your renditon of the Charger would have been better.

The headlights look a little unreal, especially the right side. Maybe the final version will be less radical.
