Funny how the CTSv was a huge bargin 6 months ago when it was being compared to the M5, M3, S-type-R, AMG's and S4s.

Now that the 300C is out many are saying the CTSv is overpriced That doesn't say much for the Euro cars than.

I like the CTSv because it looks so much more sportier.

As far as the engine being overrated, I doubt it because the LS6 in the Z06 isn't and the CTSv has the exact same engine. Maybe there are bad mufflers going around that are choking these cars off or some thing. If the problem was the LS6 I suspect some Z06's would have the same problem. It's not like the CTSv got a new one off engine, LS6 is proven tech, it's been out since 2001.

Poke around on some of the rest of that forum's messages. MORE and BMR are both claiming to be solving the wheel hop issues very quickly. MTI and Mallet already have tuner versions. The aftermarket is sprinting twards this car.

If anyone wants to trade a kindney for a CTSv straight up, pm me.

It is indeed being caused by a really restrictive exhaust system. Read a little more in the CTSv section of ls1tech.com and determine what these cars put down with an intake and exhaust...

I do agree that that CTS does look very sporty in black....but $52k I dunno, lol, it is a bargain compared to current version m5, but the new one is going to be nice.... but fact is for $52k it better put down close to 400hp, lol. If you are in market for CTS-V i would already look at Audi S4 too.

But the car i reallly like is Magnum in white, omg they look dead sexy.....

Things will be REALLY fun when the 6.1 hemi comes out, lol.... and DOES run the same times as CTSV now that would be whacked. Imagine a Dodge Charger familly sedan running neck and neck with CAddie's $52k Special Edition CTS-V. lol. They better do something quick.

They are. It's called the 6.0 LS7. I generally believe everyone who went and bought the GTOs and CTSv's with the outgoing genIII motors are going to unpleasantly surprised by the performance of the LS2 and LS7 versions. There was a dyno curve of the LS2 vs the LS6 posted around here earlier and the LS2's torque curve makes the LS6 look like a Honda 2.0.

Of course anyone who currently owns a CTSv will probably easily trade in for the LS7 version.

The Hemi has just jacked the performance envelope into the next level. It's a big part of the reasoning behind GM's 6.0 motors and Ford's new 6.2.

If GM hops on this asap it shouldnt develop into much of a problem, but if they drag their feet it'd be a bad blow to a Cadillac that was headed full steam in the right direction.
Is anyone taking the rear gear difference into account. AFAIK the CTS-V has a 3:73 rear gear. Higher numerical ratio'ed cars usually dyno lower than lower numerical ratios. Intertial chassis dynos extrapolate drum movement against an equation to approximate rear wheel horsepower.

The CTS-V's HP is NOT over-stated. How many people complaining about the power have actually driven one, let alone own one! I have never driven a non-modified Vette (non-z06) or Camaro that was close in power to my CTS-V.

That's pretty disappointing to hear, but if the best anyone has ever run a CTS-v at the track is a low 13 then there's absolutely no way they're making 400 horsepower at that weight with a 6-speed manual.

I guess this'll make it a little easier for Lexus to compete with their redesign and release of the IS430 (ground-up redesign of the IS300 except now with the option of getting the 4.3L V8 w/ 350hp and a 6-speed manual), as well as for BMW to compete with their new M3.

Not to mention that it will probably cost around 40K USD (IS430, with IS300 being around 30K)
