Does anyone else get a sinking feeling over this Chrysler fiasco?

That's exactly what BMW did with Rover. The current management at MG-Rover has worked miracles with a very dated line-up, surprising since everyone had written of the British carmaker years ago.

Of course, a Chrysler without Dodge trucks or Jeep would be absolutely dead in the water. That's exactly what we're talking about. BMW sold off profitable Land Rover to Ford, and gave away Rover just to get rid of it. If Chrysler regains its "freedom," expect the same sort of break-up.

I'm starting to have a personal complex...

In the '80s when I was a kid (I know that'll make a couple of ya feel old ), I loved the popular cars. F bodies. G bodies. 5.0s. Japanese sports cars like 300 ZXs and MR2 and Supra Turbos. Now?

Everything I like is dead or dying. F bodies. Oldsmobile. The only reason I bought the Grand Am over the Alero was because of resale value...I worked at a dealer, so I figured if I wanted to turn it to buy another car, it'd be an easier sell. I wish I had an Alero, especially now that I don't work there! Also, I think the Sebring Coupe I drove was flat gorgeous, and if I wasn't anticipating paying off the Grand Am in time for a 5th gen to show up...

Why is it every car I like is dead or close to it? I see excitement coming, but I wonder how well it will be received...Solstice, RWD V8s, AWD supercharged G6s...

It just feels like to be a car enthusiast, at this stage, sucks. Unless you want a rally pocket-rocket-family-car-complete-with-hoopty-wing-and-thumpin'-tunes....yo

I want GM to kick ***...but NOT at the expense of Ford or Chrysler. If GM died tomorrow and was bought out by Toyota, I'd buy a Ford or Mopar in a heartbeat. I am and always will be die-hard GM...but to lose Chrysler??

I am sick of not being able to buy an American made TV...or home stereo component...or car stereo component...it angers me that people can't support their own damn product. I am tired of car enthusiasts in general looking at my cars as somehow inferior because they don't say Honda or Toyota on them...and when I ask them why they don't seem to care about buying American, they, as Americans themselves, feel their own country is inferior.

And I'm really tired of America being on a perpetual slide...and those who care can't do anything, while others continue to support the other guys. I know America is all about free markets, and people have the right to own whatever they want...

But how will they feel when America is nothing more than a bunch of insurance companies, banks, HMOs, hospitals and lawyers? When we don't MAKE anything??

That, my friends, is the real crime...sorry for ranting. But this Chrysler ordeal is REALLY p!ssing me off...

At least DCX has a Australia plan for Chrysler.

Jason E I'm with you on everything but the alero and grand am

My parents used to buy american made tv's but they wouldn't last. We bought a japanese tv and it's lasted over 5 years .

It's ashame that the american car industry is walking a tight rope. Once false move and your profit falls.

I have a feeling that gm is going to regain signifigant market share, but at the expense of chrysler. I think ford is going to survive, they always do.

Hey man, you ever drive one?? Honestly, the Grand Am GT and the Alero GL2 (or GLS with the FE3 suspension) were the 2 tightest handling FWD cars I drove in 3 years on the lot, until the Comp G GPs showed up. Honestly. Even the car mags raved about them when they debuted.

They have had certain quality control issues, such as the dreaded 3400 intake leaks, warped brake rotors, and wheel bearing issues...but overall, these cars are kickazz for what you pay, and what you get. I just passed 23k with mine, and it is completely drum tight, and a ball to drive. I sold my '95 Grand Am with 121k on it a year and a half ago, and the girl who bought it loves it and has had 0 problems with it since I sold it to her.

Don't count those 2 cars out...they are quite nice No F bod, but a very respectable car.
