Do you want DoD on the next Camaro

I picked yes as long as I can turn it off. I don't want it to effect the V8 rumble all the time. But on a road trip I'd love to have it.

Same here, as long as it doesnt add another $5,000 to the total. IF it does, than I wont want it.

DoD= displacement on demand
shuts off 2 or 4 cylinders when you dont need all that power. so your v8 becomes a v4 or v6.

The GM V8s and Hemi just shut down to V4 mode.

I'd love being able to chose when to use 4 or 8 cylinders.

HELL NO!

Unnecessary complexity in response to strict CAFE regulations which are based on the incorrect, politically correct assumption that my tail pipe emissions are causing global warming.

I would love to see it, also I would like to be able to turn it on or off cause like others I wouldn't want to go though town and it sound like a 4 cylinder but fuel economy would help out alot and would make a 6.0 V8 have as good gas mileage as V6's and maybe even better.

Sure. As long as you can control it.

Thats right! Wheres our damn carbuerators?! I want that option!

I voted for the tree hugging option, of course Now that I think a little more about it though, I think I'd rather have a switch or something for it. If CAFE goes up enough, they won't be able to offer it as a "choice" but as mandatory. I wish I could have a damn choice for CAGS

My main concern is it sounding bad at idle or at cruising speeds...

it would never be a switchable option. it can be defeated, of course, like CAGS but you'd never be allowed to switch it off from the factory. if it were, it would not sit well with the EPA wich would dismiss its existance. which then leaves GM with the question of "why bother?"

I'd expect DOD to be there in the same way that MDS is present in the Hemi.

i think the biggest question i have is...how does it sound?
IIRC, they have something in the exhaust that does something to make it sound not so 4 banger like or something?
but if you want an aftermarket exhaust on (like most would on a v8) then how does that affect it? does it switch to ricey sound in 4banger mode and then v8 muscle later on?

They cancelled DoD on the C6 because it sounded too 4 banger-ish

I voted yes, not because I hug trees (not on purpose anyway...bike joke sorry) but anything that lets me have my cake and eat more of it to me is a good thing.

I was under the impression that the de-activation happned at highway speeds only, meaning aound town you'd still have all eight firing for max power. Did I miss something?

As for the C6 not having DOD, I thought it was because DOD wasn't quite ready to be released, not any 'four-banger' noise quality. No one's compaining about the Hemi's DOD....
