Considering that T-tops are now completely extinct in the automotive industry, I wouldn't bet on their return.

Here's an incomplete list of cars of non-GM cars that used to offer T-tops:

Ford Mustang hatchback(before 1989)
Nissan 300ZX
Toyota Supra
Toyota MR-2

When you include the F and G-bodies, you have a list of deceased cars that any enthusiast would miss.

I suprised know one has brought up the idea of a Targa top.

Put me down for a Targa/T-top vote, I love them. Way better than sun/moon roof

T-tops is vital to my acceptance of a 5th gen. It's just one of those things that set the camaro apart, and make is a Camaro.

Please Bring back the T-TOP!!!!

Very nice option, but i don't think it'll return on the 5th gen for the reasons redzed gave regarding side-air-bags and frameless door glass. That and it most likely will be sharing platforms with a few other cars that might not have a t-top option. For that reason, GM might not want to invest in the R&D for camaro alone.

I would love to see it happen though.

Everyone is giving me emotion-based reasons why the T's should return. Are there logical reasons? I want the LS7 in my 2008 Z28, does that mean that it will happen?

75% of Camaros sold came with this $1000 option. If they sell 80,000 Camaro coupes a year for 5 years that is $300 million in revinue just from that one option.

And what about the argument that the same 75% would/could be sold with a sunroof? It would be interesting to see what of the competition's sunroof sales is...

We can't say 75%, the best guess would be to look at other coupe like the Monte Carlo or Grand Am and see what % they have, take the avg. of all sub $32K coupes.

I personally think the car will have something new and innovating . I dont think it will be T-tops , conventional sunroof or a targa . Guess we'll have to wait and see

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's time to dump the T-tops and the "burt reynolds bar" in the roof and go to a Targa. They took the Corvette out of the 1970's, they can do it with a Camaro, too...

I think a Targa would be a major selling point for me. I just hope they wouldn't make a high performance version (a la Z06) with only a fixed roof.

I've owned both T-Tops (89 Camaro RD & 99 Z28) and a Targa (95 Corvette)

And I perfer the T-Tops for two major reasons.

1) Targas are a pain for one perosn to remove and stowe. It is big and awkward.

2) The T-Bar adds a lot of rigity to the structure (in general). I know my 95 Corvette flexed a lot without the top in place... not so much with the Camaros.

Think about it... how many F-Bodies do you see driving aorund with the T's off? Tons! How many Vette's do you see with the targa off? No so many....

90% of people's desicions are emotional rather than rational. Other than the fact that the majority of camaros came with them, and made GM a lot of money, I guess no, there isn't any that I can think of right now. BTW, since when does reason have anything to do with buying a camaro or firebird?

The C6 has a targa top, does it offer side curtain airbags? If not, can the 5th Gen get away without them?

If the 5th Gen has a T-Top option - I will most certinally buy one with it.
