Dear GM

Please don't skimp on two things for future peformance cars.

1. Wheels
2. Exhaust Tips

Never underestimate what visceral response these can produce in the testosterone crazed mind of a virile young male. You dropped the ball on the last 4th gen big time with those smallish 16 inch wheels and ridiculous tail pipes, especially on the Z28. Black exhaust tips? Whose idea was that?

And silver paint for wheels is not fitting for a car of the the Z28s stature. Even the old Beretta Z26 got some shiny aluminum alloys, what you did to the Z28 was a travesty.

Look at the Mustang. Slick 17" wheels and shiny exhaust tips. Take note.

I agree, these are 2 of the many flaws that brought down our cars........
We need some 22" wheels and at least 6" chromed exhast tips.

Agree with the sarcasm ( I hope it was sarcasm anyway)

Anyway I like things that look rather modest, then run to beat hell. So what it the Mustang looked faster. The Camaro was faster.

And for the record. The rectangle LT1 tips looked cool. I just bought a set for my 3rd gen.

Also important to get right is the wheel to wheel well size ratio. We don't need lots of empty space above our tires - we're not 4x4's, we don't need that kind of suspension travel. The 4th Gen Camaros and Current Mustangs look like they are jacked up.

Reference: BMW, other european cars.

You're 100% right. The salad shooters then the curvey 10 spoke 16" for the 4th gens were pretty hideous, although the ZR1 and the 17" 10 spokes were really nice looking. The tips werent bad, but they got kinda old after 9 years. The center mount exahust on the SS though, man that thing looks good.

What center mount exhaust?
I wasn't aware that there was a factory center exhaust on the Camaro SS's, I know they had a dual tailpipe exiting from the back drivers side though.

Unless you are refering to the SS concept vehicle......that would make more sense.
Must be.

Available option on the '99+ Camaro SS from SLP. I was never really a fan. I'm more about the traditional muscle car look out back.

Z28 should have got 17" rims

what was worse is the V6 Camaro, That is B.S. that they would put hub caps on a Camaro and what was up with the single turn down steel tail pipe. They could have spent $9 and at least put a chrome autozone tip on there

My friend has 2 larger tips in the center, kinda like if you rounded off the stock tips and put them in the middle.

Picture

Thats the best I can do for a picture thus far, but that's the GMMG chambered thing with the center tips.

Yeah, I like the dual center mounted exhaust that became available. I can't remember for sure, but I think that it was first offered in 2001. I hate the quad tip center mount set-up. It just looks odd to me.

agree 100%

I liked the black rectangular tips. The Vette had em too.

I agree that the wheels were too small.

offer color-coded wheels on all models, optional. either the wheel itself, regardless of steel or aluminum, or at least the ornament (hubcap).

I don't undertand what is so hard about getting a nice looking OEM wheel design.

The basic paramters are: 17", 5 spoke with option for polished, chrome or painted. Paint/ powercoat in color choice from a color palette would be nice to add some individuality. I know people will point out it'll never happen for OEM equipment . At least there's the aftermarket powdercoaters for that.

So forget all those cheesy overdone, convoluted, aftermarket rice-burner rims (that as well as being ugly also take all day to clean). All you need is something simple & elegant.... there is just something about the classic 17"/18" 5 spoke style that will never go out of date. The 17" Firebird-Firehawk OEM, C4 ZR1, Y2k C5 and Cobra 'R' rims are all great designs that stand the test of time. Fiske and HRE also make some sweet 5 spoke designs.

If it ain't broke, don't f***ing fix it.
