Curious, how many of you ever buy new cars?
Re: Curious, how many of you ever buy new cars?
Everything in the fleet except for the 1LE were bought new. There was also a 98 Jimmy bought new that was replaced by the Envoy. That said, I'm holding out for a 5th gen 'vert for my next new vehicle.

2000 Camaro V6 5spd
2002 Trans Am WS.6 6spd
2004 GTO 6spd
If I follow my pattern 2006 will be my next new car purchase. Even the car dealer noticed the pattern and asked if I'd be back in 2006 for a Vette

My last new vehicle was bought back in October of 2002. I plan to buy a certain car if it is produced soon. If not then a GTO is in my future.
I got a 37 year car I'm about to work on and its new to me, does that count?

Re: Curious, how many of you ever buy new cars?
1st new vehicle I bought was a Ford Ranger back in the mid 80s at the dawn of 5 year financing. I took such a horrendous hit on depriciation and was on the upside for so long on that truck, that I promised I'd never get an all new car again. My 85 special service Mustang was under 2 years old, My 97 Z28 was just a year old, and all my other cars were used. I'm very cheap.
Last year, the GTO was enough to make me break my promise to myself, and I looked around for one. I got disgusted with the dealers I went to (at least 12) and it put me off. In fact, after one exchange with a dealer I stopped down the street just to look at a new Mach 1 Mustang, and came within a whisker of buying it because the dealer wasn't trying to rape me on the price and actually acted like he might want to actually sell the car.
I nearly took Ford's bait last year when they were offering advance purchases on the 2005 Mustang guranteed at MSRP (instead of any potential dealer markups).
With as much leasing that's going on, and leased vehicles being turned in after 12 months and reposessions (I'll have a dealer's liscense by the end of this month, so I'll be able to go to autions again), it really doesn't make sense to get a brand new car unless it's a personal preference......
..... unless it's a GTO that is.

Re: Curious, how many of you ever buy new cars?
I have never been able to buy a new car and most likely never will, except maybe a base model Kia.
The newest vehicle I've ever purchased was 3 years old when I got it and now it's 6 years old. The oldest is now 33 years old.

Re: Curious, how many of you ever buy new cars?
I've never bought a new vehicle either.
1991 S10 (1st Vehicle 16)
1991 RS Camaro - College - Wrecked in 3 months; lol - Don't ask...
1992 RS Camaro - College
2000 LT Blazer - I bought this just last year and got it for just over 10k (50k miles, 4x4 Loaded).
And the price I paid for the Blazer is EXACTLY why I will buy /most/ of my vehicles used. I don't care Foreign or Domestic they all take depreciation hits taking it off the lot. Although, if a certain Pony Car GM /could/ be working on comes out in about 2-3 years with a VERT option - I may have to buy my first "new car".

Re: Curious, how many of you ever buy new cars?
Here's the new vehicles I've had. I'm 33 years old and have had a total of 23 vehicles (6 new) if you include the 2 that were my wife's.
1995 Chevrolet S10 (HO 4.3L V6 w/ 5 speed) - Purchased
1998 Chevrolet S10 (4 cyl w/ 5 speed) - Leased
2000 Ford Contour (V6 w/ 5 speed - Purchased
2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (6 speed) - Purchased
2005 Saab 9-3 Linear (4 cyl turbo w/ auto) - Leased for wife
2005 Saab 9-2X Aero (4 cyl turbo w/ 5 speed) - Purchased for me
I got GMS on all the GM products and A-plan on the Ford so I got pretty good prices on all of them. Most of them were back in the days before they started giving everything away!
