If this is true, it means Lutz has successfully broken the Corvette Rule. We all know they don't let any other GM vehicle be more powerful or faster than the Vette, but it is a big coup for anything but the Vette to debut new corporate V-8 tech. Granted, Caddy has always been the exception to the Corvette rule in terms of technical advances, but they've always had their own, separate engines until the Escalade.

No, there has been vehicles that were as quick or quicker than same year Corvettes in the past.

Just the same, how do you feel the CTSv is quicker than Corvette? It uses the same engine, and weighs 200-300 pounds more. Also, Corvette will be more powerful when the next generation debuts.

Think large!

Will the Gen4 motors be a clean sheet motor. or will it be the LT1/LT4 dfifference to the SBC. Or are we looking at a lot of smaller changes like the SBC has gone thru over many years. Will Gen$ heads bolt up to genIII motors? ect.....

woah, vvt? How would this work? Adjusting Rocker arms? Bleeding off oil pressure in hydraulic lifters?

Would be pretty neat if you cuold bolt it on any GenIII engine... would do wonders on smoothing out a radical cam down below.

I'm sure Gary Cowger misspoke when he said 7800rpm....he probably meant 6800.

Actually I think it is "there HAVE been"

I know there have been faster and more powerful cars than the vette, most notably the Turbo buicks and the '89 Turbo TA, but GM doesn't like to admit to it, which is why the GN was always significantly underrated in terms of HP. But in this case it seems they aren't going through the steps to hide it.

I don't see the CTSv beeing faster than the Vette in terms of 1/4 mile measurements. It might be, but I would think the odds are against it. Probably the biggest thing going against the CTS for pure acceleration are probably chassis mechanics and ride comfort....yes, even a performance Caddy still has to ride like Caddy....and do we have an idea of what kind of final drive ratios the CTSv will have? But, like you say, with the sneek peak articles we've been getting about the C6 floating around, sounds like a 450 hp C6 will safely increase the Vette's performance advantage over other GM products.

I'm going to still assume it'll be the LS1/LS6 and LT1/LT4 -

Basically the same engine, slight difference. Perhaps the CTS will get a smoother, smaller, and more efficient low-rpm cam, where the C6 would get something a little more lumpy and a louder "free flow" exhaust... as usual. No biggie.
