CTSv = LS1 power
In the February, 2003 Ward's AutoWorld there's a pullout by Mahle listing 2003 North American light vehicle engines availability and specifications. On this pullout, the LS1 is listed as being used in the Corvette and '04 Cadillac CTS. I'd say we have our answer for what's going to power the CTSv.
Now, if GM can keep it close to that $35K bogey that Lutz threw out in an interview a few months back...

If I'm not mistaken, someone here directly involved has said CTS will have the LS6, and called a story in Thecarconnection (also said LS1) wrong.
I think Bob Lutz also stated LS6 a couple of months ago. He was overruled regarding Grand Prix's production horsepower, so it's possible he was again.
But for now, at the risk of wishful thinking on my part, I'm sticking with LS6 as the CTSv powerplant till I hear otherwise from the same sources who said it.

It definitely deserves to get the LS6 in its efforts to dethrone the M5 and RS6 as 'Best !/$ Sedan/Wagon on the Planet.' The only problem is that if it does get the LS6, I probably won't be able to afford it

This fall's really shaping up to be pretty good at GM.
The GTO & CTSv will be out. The S/C Impala & Monte Carlo will be out (they aren't RWD, but at least Chevy has something quick again besides the Vette). And we should be getting the 1st spy pictures of anything comming out in 2005 (ie: Corvette), and we should be getting the 1st concept drawings of vehicles slated to be GM's RWD cars of 2006/7 (ie: redesigned GTOs & Monte Carlo, Pontiac & Chevy sedans, and if the moon & stars align just right, hopefully even a Camar..ah..er,.."Chevy sporty car").
