CTS V versus The World (I tested four factory hotrods)

I tested the CTS V against its key competitors. Follow the link below to my report on the results. Very fun.

Nice review!

If Cadillac can work on improving the CTS interior and shed a few pounds here and there....look out....

I disagree about the M3's I6 sound. No, it doesn't rumble like a V8, but BMW's I6s have a great sound to them. It is possible for a engine with less than 8 cylinders to sound good. To each his own, I guess.

Now I know why all those M3 like to mess with my Z when I'm driving up to San Fran Friday nights.

Did you experience rear wheel hop in the CTSv that seemingly every car magazine that tests the car mentions?

I didn't get any wheel hop, but then again we were not allowed hard launches either. One person (not a very good driver) had a little hop that I noticed while watching him take off (he was jerky on the clutch). Other than that one circumstance, pretty good. The V was the fastest of the group. That M surprised me though.

I've had mine for about a week and a half now and i'll give a short review. i traded my 03 vette for it. I have owned 6 f-bodies including an 02 WS6, so thats what I can compare it to.

The car looks awesome. Very tight fit and finish in both interior and exterior. The Nav system and other gadgetry is awesome. The seats are very comfortable and w/ the suede inserts you stay put. I have seen complaints by rags about side bolter, but mine is ample and at least as good as my vette. (don't know if those same rags complained about the vette's side bolster). the shifter is a little on the firm side, but has loosened up in the 900 miles I have driven it, but still a little firm for my taste. It sucks that the parking brake is on the floor, but i don't really see room for it near the console. It also sucks that the brake release and hood release are stacked one on top of the other. i have popped the hood twice by accident, but these are minor flaws.

The ride is awesome!. It is a little faster than my A4 vette, but the kicker is the handeling. Because of the cars added weight, the car handles a million times better in the rain. the car feels more planted in all conditions. you never feel as if the *** end can swing out from under you at any time. The car does have massive wheel hop. i get it with a hard launch and with a hard 1-2 shift. I have talked to people at air lift suspensions and will be testing a $75 pair of air bags to see if that works. The clutch can be feathered to eliminate the hop on the launch, and the hop on the 1-2 shift is extremely short (as short as the chirp if there were no wheel hop).

The car looks small in pictures but look at it from the inside or from a distance. I was suprised the first time I sat in the back seat of mine, The car has a ton of space, and can truley seat 5 comfortably.

This is by far the best and most fun to drive car i've owned by far and I don't feel so bad about paying sticker for this car after I drove it. I can honestly say I know my next car after the V will be a V.

Some pics of my V... http://members19.clubphoto.com/silve...ons-6f86.phtml

I think I can hear some GM marketers cheering.

And some ex-GM marketers kicking themselves...

Sweet car. Finally saw one on the road today. Understated, but definitly something out of the ordinary.

No doubt. I've seen a few CTS Vs leaving town here on truck, and a couple on the road in the past few months. After reading these reviews I seriously am looking at getting one of these used in a year or two instead of a new GTO or (heaven forbid) a new chevy coupe .
