CTS-V/PLUS

FYI: There is a pretty cool pic. of the CTS-V/Plus test mule in the new Road & Track. It looks awesome, it has wheel flares like race car plus a hood scoop. They said it has a 6.0L V8 but its unlikely to make production. I bet we will see it in the next year or two with 500hp C6 Z06 engine to compete with the 500hp M5. One thing is for sure the CTS-V looks really tame compared to the CTS-V/Plus.

Also in the same story they had pics. of the STS-V and the XLR-V test mules.

Well they stated that the STS-V and XLR-V will have Supercharged Northstar engines, and most of us here at this board have known this for some time now.

I just wonder what HP#s are they shooting for with the Supercharged Northstar.......400hp??

Has the Esclade-V and SRX-V been confirmed for production yet.

What happend to the Lade-V with the XV-12 SuperNorthstar?
Im sure a SRX-V would also get the SC'ed Northstar.

I always thought the Escalade would be the next "v" and get a 7.5L V12.

Same here. A S/c'ed Northstar is nice, but the XLR-V and and Escale V would be better off with the 7.5L v12. This is a luxury segment and number of cyl is king. BMW utilize v12's in their large luxury sedans and Benz does the same with their upper end sedans and coupes.

It's definitely getting the V12 in a few years' time; I'm just not sure if the V12 will be marketed as a V. To me it takes away some of the performance image of the entire V-series line if they use it on a truck

The 06 CTSV should have the ZO-7(?) motor that is now being tested. I am already rolling my pennies.

Id make sweet sweet love down by the fire many times a night to a Escalade EXTv, although I'd assume a $70k+ price tag...

Mercedes also sells hatchbacks priced cheaper than some Hyundais. Cadillac needs to set a higher standard, not just copy what everyone else is doing.

How is having a V version of the Escalade bad for image? That's like saying the SVT lightning is bad for SVT's image, when infact, it was the fastest Ford in the lineup for a couple of years (99-02).

Thing is, they already have a luxury SUV (don't know where hatchbacks fall into the equation) and an upstart performance division that is making a name for itself. Why not apply performance across the board? Why not offer a best in class performance across the board?

A 13 second luxury truck/Suv would not hurt the image of V or Cadillac in my opinion. Just all the more reason to give them respect i would think.

I suppose it's all in how you define "performance". People on this site are naturally inclinded to think of quarter mile times as the be-all and end-all. However those in Cadillac's target audience (and most of the rest of the world, for that matter) take on a broader view. How well does it stop? Handle? Is it easily controllable at the limit? Can you toss it into corners? Is it generally fun and rewarding to drive? In other words, a well-rounded performer like, say, the old BMW 5-series. No matter what you do to an Escalade, it won't be anything more than a straight-line machine.
