A 2008 Mercedes E63 AMG makes less power (507hp/465tq), weighs less (4035), and has an MSRP of $86,125.

I predict that the CTS-V will come in as a good competitor to the E63 in terms of performance, and will be nearly as luxurious. I figure $65,000 is reasonable for a base model, and approaching $80,000 fully loaded (including ultra-performance options like carbon-ceramic brakes).

4300 pounds for the Automatic, huh?

A Ford Crown Victoria only weighs 4100 pounds!

The Crown Vic also only makes 250hp (in cop form), only comes with a 4 speed auto and solid axle, it's brakes are only 12 inches in the front with 2 piston calipers, it's wheels are only 16 inchers with pizza cutter 225's, and it's got an interior that's only as good as a 10 year old Kia's. It makes the CTS-V look light for all that it comes with.

Another absolutely useless comment...

If I'm not mistaken, no other vehicle in this segment offers the choice between an automatic and manual transmission.

The weight is still scary, though.

Amazing car! The only problem with it (and most other recent GM redesigns) is in the exterior details. If they gave it a mean looking quad exhaust, eliminated IMO the silly looking fender vents, and most importantly gave it some modern LED foglights (the current ones look just as bad as the ones on my G6), this car would be absolutely perfect. And the new interior trim..

The exterior details don't matter when your going too fast to see them anyway.

I love that a nine-inch-wide tire is thought of as a "pizza cutter".
