Exclamation CTS & H2... Best new Interiors awards.

The Auto Interiors Show Tuesday named the Cadillac CTS and Hummer H2 winners of the 2003 Car and Truck Interior of the Year Awards. CTS and Hummer H2 were chosen by a “People’s Choice” format with online voting of five car and five truck finalists. Winners were selected on the basis of: Appearance — styling, color, material, fit, and finish; Functionality — comfort, convenience, and safety; Innovation — surprise and delight factors; and Overall impression of the vehicle in motion and at rest. Ironically, GM product boss Bob Lutz singled out the CTS interior as being deficient when he signed on to makeover the automaker’s styling and product development two years ago. Motor press reviewers, too, often cited the car’s interior as the car’s weakest point. Both the CTS and H2 were cited by consumers as being desirable for use of wood trims and OnStar telematics. The CTS beat out finalists BMW Z4, Honda Accord Sedan, Infiniti G35, and Saab 9-3. The H2 bested Honda Element, Volvo XC90, Lincoln Aviator, and Nissan Murano. —Jim Burt
Very nice.

That is kinda surprising about the CTS. Maybe it just goes to show that we "gearheads" are in the minority when it comes to automotive tastes.

You don't need to be a "gearhead" to appreciate an elegant interior. I'm not familiar with the inside of a CTS but from everything I've heard this really is quite a shock. Lutz said CTS would not be sold in Europe because of the substandard interior, by European standards anyway....

Since April, the CTS is available in Europe and I love it. But most reviews here (and myself) have complaints about the hardplastic Interior. They should use better materials in a car of this segment.

I did not know CTS was now on sale in Europe. I could've sworn Lutz said the car would not be sold overseas.

Glad you like it though!

Awesome.

I've sat in a CTS before and they are really nice interiors.

I've had the luxory of driving both a CTS and an H2 for over a week each.

I can say, the CTS interior isn't even a 1/1000th as bad as many people are making it out to be. The H2 was a little plasticy, BUT the new innotive design with allen nuts visable made a statement.

Also, don't take too much credence to what "Lutz" had to say. Many of his comments are overly harsh to begin with, and then the media runs and blows it up even more

Agreed.

I have driven a CTS a few times, and thought the Interior was quite nice.
