Only the fuzzy dice survived: 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air massacred by 2009 Chevrolet Malibu in head-on carnage

This really shows how far car safety has come
Gotta love the fuzzy dice, although its a shame to see a Bel Air in such good condition get demolished.

I was gonna saw... WTF with the BEL AIR? I'd easily traded them straight up for a 2000 Cavalier... I am sure the crash safety of the malibu is lightyears ahead of that too...

FWIW, another selling point on my car. I've never been in a serious wreck figure I am do for one sometime, and my G6 has a pretty good crash safety record

Wow, the guy in the Malibu would have broken their left foot while the guy in the Bel Air would have been killed.

Most would rather save a 1/10th off their quarter mile.

Amazing.

I thought modern cars were actually more prone to crumple. Obviously not, if that article is fact.

Under that shiny paint, I wonder what the '59's condition was. Anyone notice all that rust dust flying off the frame on impact?

Yep, the 59 frame rails were probably 90% rust, judging from the fountain of brown-orange crap pouring out the opposite side on impact.

Don't trust every bit of propaganda you see.

Someone made the point in the comments that it looks like the Bel Air has no engine. Looking at it a few more times I would have to agree.

Why would the Institute for Highway Safety make a bogus video?
