Arrow Couple new/upcoming product questions...

1. What are the differences between the LS2 in the Vette/GTO and the SSR? Wasn't it simply the heads, or is there more than that?

2. Anyone know why is Chevrolet calling its 2.4 NA Ecotec model, SS, when there is already the SS Supercharged? Didn't Chevy learn why not to do that thanks to the Monte Carlo?

Thanks.

Re: Couple new/upcoming product questions...

I was under the impression that the N/A Cobalt Coupes were NOT getting the SS badge...

I remember it being the plan to have SS and SS Supercharged, but I also remember a press release stating that they had revised that scheme...

Re: Couple new/upcoming product questions...

what did they learn from Monte carlo? i know lots of people love that supercharged beast.

but i was under the impression the Supercharged ecotec will be a smaller engine like a 2.0 or 2.2 not the same 2.4

but yea the SS will be supercharged and will be about 14.5 at 98.0 in the quarter mile, 0-60 in 6.0, and 0-100 in 15.7 2 more miles per hour and 1.2 seconds later not good

Re: Couple new/upcoming product questions...

There should be no mechanical differences between the LS2 in any vehicle. The only differences should be in the packaging. The SSR probably has a more restrictive intake and exhaust system, as well as a different accessory drive.

Yep. Intake and exhaust tracting is probably different, but internally all LS2s are the same. If you changed the heads then it wouldn't really be an LS2 anymore by GM's engine naming convention.

First they had the Monte Carlo SS which was just the 3800 engine. Then the put in the 3800 supercharger and called it the SS Superchared. So then there weare two SS Monte Carlos out, one with a 3800 and one with a 3800 supercharger.

I am pretty sure the 15.7 time is for 0-100-0.
