Could this car be the prelude to the new Charger?

Looking through a new concept car book I recieved, I came across a Dodge concept car that seemed to somewhat resemble what the rumors are pointing to in terms of what the Charger will be.

It has rear pop-out doors, a blunt Dodge nose, HEMI powertrain, new-old design. It could be the prelude. What do you think?

That concept is what eventually turned into the Chrysler 300C concept car, which in turn became the production model. The Original 300 Hemi C concept was a 2 door convertible, which I believe will turn into the Charger.

Actually, it was the Chrysler Chronos that became the new 300: http://www.btinternet.com/~dreamcars...lerchronos.jpg

It came out in 1998 and was meant as a preview of a new full sized rear drive Chrysler due around 2001 or 2002. When Daimler took over Chrysler, that car along with everything Chrysler was working on was put on indefinate hold.

The Chronos when moved towards production was switched from an exclusive car to simply a replacement to the 300M (Chrysler planned the Chronos to be more upmarket than anything Chrysler made in years), it shrank in size and picked up MB parts as opposed to Chrysler developed pieces to save money.

The Super8 was intended to be a preview of the new RWD Intrepid, but didn't do very well at autoshows & focus groups, so it was sent back to the studio. The front end survived as the new Dodge Magnum, but the reverse angle A-pillars didn't.

Word is that the suicide doors will stay and that the roofline was refined somewhat & displayed on the Chrysler Airflite concept (http://www.autointell.net/nao_compan...irflite-03.htm). There is also word that much of the 1999 Charger concept's sheetmetal made it to the production 2006 car, but we'll see.

BTW: the 300C convertible concept was on a fast track to production till Daimler killed it.

Do you think the loaction of the doors, and design, off the Airflite are a prelude to what will be on the Charger? You know, I just noticed that with the windows down on the Airflite, it has that "coupe" look even though it is a 4 door, makes you wonder..
