Re: Corvette Refresh?

Personally, I like the look afforded by pop-up headlights but among the other already mentioned issues is that pop-up headlights also act like air brakes!

I can't remember specific numbers I've heard but I do remember being amazed at the difference in drag pop-up headlights can cause compared to non-pop-up and I think that would be especially true in a design such as the C6 wehre the lines for the headlights are so well integrated into the overall shape of the leading edge of the car.

Re: Corvette Refresh?

I always like to tease that C5s, Firebirds, and other popup-headlight-equipped cars are "slower at night".

It's just a joke, though. I've heard that the different in 1/4 mile ET and trap speed are less than 0.1%, and therefore not necessarily attributable to the headlights, since a car will vary by that much on two back-to-back runs.

I dont want to get slammed for making a "vague" post, but I'd honestly plan for the Camaro, then the C7 after....

Re: Corvette Refresh?

It would be cool if they could make headlight lenses that were body color except when lit.

There's a couple ways I know that could be done now - colored tint (would not match the paint at all, would look stupid as hell), and liquid crystals - such as used in auto dimming mirrors and such as the glass in the roof of the Maybachs.

That doesn't just have to be black - can be colored, too.

Well I could like them more if they looked more expensive and not like they tied some flashlights together and put a cover over them.

The DRLs are wrong, too big, the color and texture difference make it look wierd, as do the low beams and the dead space in the top. They need to rethink them.

Ferrari and others manage to make them look pretty good, even if you dont have too much sci-fi in your blood.

Actually I think the C6 headlights look Ferrari-esque, and very high end. One of the more 'expensive looking' points of the C6. Same, unfortunately, cannot be said for some parts of the interior. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the C7, though.

Re: Corvette Refresh?

I really like the looks of the C6 headlights.
Yes, they did take a little while to grow on me, but it definnitely works.

Funniest quote about the C6 ever....
In 1992, while looking at a early clay concept model of a C5, Tom Peters said "Corvettes don't have exposed headlights!!!"
(source: All Corvettes Are Red)
Ten years later, he designed the C6 hehe.

I wish the C6 was available as a FRC.

Re: Corvette Refresh?

Fixed Roof Coupe. Very cool feature of the C5, basically made it look like a C5 Z06 without the Z06 cost. They also had a trunk instead of a hatch.

I think the C6 looks awesome. It's hard not to blow house saving money on one of those when they are calling my name out every day as I drive past the Chevy dealership. Like a damn Siren lol.

FRC also means that the car doesn't have the removable targa top on the regular C5 coupe.

Personally, I prefer the looks of the coupe.

Re: Corvette Refresh?

C6 Z06 is fixed roof, but they used the coupe design instead of making a C5 style FRC because it has less drag.
