Corvette Refresh?

I hear there might be a refresh coming in the next few years (front and rear styling, wheels, engine change, possible new interior, ect). Does anyone know what model year this could happen? I'm not talking C7, but a refresh of the C6.

Trying to get the financial plan in order so everything can be set for a Camaro purchase, and seeing if I can squeeze in a C6 in the mix at the same time.

Yes, go back to hidden headlights. I'm having a hard time of getting used to the open healights the C6 has.

XLR needs a refresh before the C6. And I haven't heard jack about when that is happening so who knows. You would think that at $70k+ and having minimal changes over the Corvette the XLR would have more than paid for itself by now.

Agree. The XLR has a 90s styling to it... it definitely needs a major refresh.

What's wrong with the current lights? I personally have a dislike for pop-ups.

I hope the Corvette never goes back to popup lights, and I hope that no other models from any manufacturer are ever made with them.

Nothing worse than a headlight motor getting stuck, and being forced to have your car join the winky club!

I hope they do keep the cars appearance updated and fresh.

The whole C5 run went from 97-04 with nothing more than a single wheel change in MY2000.

Re: Corvette Refresh?

Isn't the C7 set to come out around 2011? I remember reading that Lutz wanted a RHD Corvettefor overseas and that wouldn't be done until the C7.

C6 looks awesome. Interior update, new rim options, and a more powerful LS2 (or LS3) is all it needs to get it to 2011.

Yeah, but it still looks hot.

I love the C6, but the C5 is still sexy (and in fact from some angles I think I prefer it over the C6...).

Re: Corvette Refresh?

Didn't they change the C5 hood at some point in the middle?

They offered a carbon fiber hood in 2004, that is all that I know of. Oh, and the LS1 was revised for 2001 and got +5hp +25tq

I agree... other than that, there was no change. If there was, it certainly was not a visual styling change.

As for the carbon fiber hood, even that was restricted to the 2004 Commemorative Edition Z06 only, and it still looked visually the same as the regular hood.

Hidden headlights cost more, are heavier, and cause lots of reliability issues. Both of my Fieros had flakey headlight motors (mind you, replacing the plastic gears with brass did wonders).

I can see why Chevy deep-sixed them. I just wish the Vettes' exposed lights were more attractive looking. They're kind of bug-eyed. It's not hard to design attractive headlights; just look at the Sky for a great example.

I don't care for the exposed headlights either. The popups had a MUCH cleaner/smoother look.

Luckily, I could never afford a new 'Vette even if I actually wanted one.

The only colors the current Corvette's lights don't look so bad on are white and silver because the headlights tend to blend in more with the lighter colors. But on black, red, blue, etc. the lights are just ugly.

Re: Corvette Refresh?

Hidden headlights of any type are against new DOT regulations. There were too many idiots that just drove around with one light (or no lights) at night when the motors broke. So you will never see them on a new Vette or any other car.

That's dissapointing to hear. I had figured that covered lights would be a gimmie on an upcoming Camaro model.

Although after my old Accord had the battery drained a couple times because some ice got into the mechanism, I would probably think twice before buying another car with pop-ups.
