Yeah, I saw it and I thought it was pretty good. The most interesting part to me was some of the testing that was being done on the car, especially when the driver was going about 180 on the Autobohn. Being a designer, I would have like to have seen the concept generation of the styling of the car but I guess there is only so much that can be shown in an hour.
Also, I liked how the spy photographer chsed down the Mustang and just got out of his car in traffic and started taking pictures.

I watched it as well and really enjoyed it. I can't imagine going 180 on the Autobahn, or even 150 on the test track in Germany. Fastest I ever got up to in my old C4 was 145 on a long straightaway.
Did anyone else seem put off by the Corvette "enthusiast" comments at the unveiling? The people they interviewed sure didn't seem impressed. For one, you would think the producers would aire the best comments, not the lackluster ones. Next, I don't understand the fascination with heritage styling cues over performance in a world class competitor like the Corvette. This car will flat out do everything, very very well ... daily driver, weekend track days, weekend vacations ... you name it. The comments "I'll learn to like it" and "It'll grow on me" just annoyed me.

I missed it! But...Rebuilding an Icon? Was I asleep, or was the Corvette in the past few years still one of the best bang for your buck sports cars? What needed to be "rebuilt"?

Eh, don't read much into it... just poetic license for a more dramatic title... techincally, moving to a new generation is "rebuilding" the car...
Re: Corvette: Rebuilding an Icon on Discovery Channel last night.
That was awesome. I was mad i missed it at 8, but thankfully it came on later that night. between that show and the show where they were building the new mustang grand am car, it's been a great couple days on the dicovery channel
...and mythbusters too...
i thought it was a good special, the spy shot hunter was a nice touch, as well as the guy flying on the autobahn. If they ever make a special on the future "performance coupe" from chevy, that might be something i'd want in my DVD collection

The term "rebuilding" I believe is used to convey the fact that you take one great car......and take it to the next generation.
Lotsa stuff left on the cutting room floor, but I was pleased to see that they showed how the show vehicles were built.....and the myriad of issues when you design a new car and then try to actually build it...thousands upon thousands of hours working on the smallest details.
As to the comments at the end...trust me.....I'd estimate that 90+% of the people there were very favorably impressed. You'll never get 100% of the public to agree on anything.

In reality, you gotta' expect that having just seen it, it was alot to absorb.....and then someone puts a camera on you.....oh well, I think it was a major home-run myself

I didn't get a chance to re-watch it yet (taped it, like I said) , but did they ever tell us what the solution was to the hatch not closing easily with the doors closed? I am assuming the air pressure in the cabin was the problem, and therefore, when the doors were open, it closed nicely...
But, what was the fix? It worked nice for Mr. Hill after they fixed it.
Also... They should REALLY consider putting together a REALLY LONG version and plug in a lot of that stuff that was cut for editting... they could simply sell it on VHS and DVD at Discovery.com and ChevyMall.com !!
A lot of us would love to watch everything!!!!!!!
