now i kno the transition from f3-f4 they made the hatch glass shorter and less area to make it lighter. wouldnt making the glass longer defeat the purpose of making it lighter? unless they made some definite weight savings somewhere else (exposed headlights, etc.)
just a thought
I don't think they lengthened the glass, they shortened the tail.

Cool

Like somebody said on the Corvetteforum: It looks nice, but doesn't scream out to be a new Vette...

Except for the headlights, of course...

Nevertheless..., very nice...

What's the commotion about? It's just a freshened C5 from those shots. Because of that it's still very nice but now it doesn't blow me away either. Hopefully the front end looks better than the "Boat Shop" pictures though....

If that is a C6.............what exactly does it have over a C5?

I still don't think that this "new" Vette should be called a C6........rather it should be a mild body change of a C5.

To me, the changes I've seen are similar to the changes that the 4th gen Camaro did from 97 to 98........
Still a 4th gen. Even though it has a fish face.

And that front end looks hideous, at least from what I see. I suspect that the profit motivation killed the trademark concealed headlights. I would like to personally thank GM for killing a styling feature that has been around since 1963!

I always wanted the Vette to look more like a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Well, well. I'm so shocked to see that you have a negative response. I don't think "profit motivation" had much to do with the headlights, though they could have been a customer complaint as a source of warranty costs (not saying they were, but that would be one pushing factor). Why? Because pop up headlights are ghey (IMO), and they are a wasted mechanical and electrical expense.

Maybe they are just changing things up a bit? The C3s looked basically nothing like C2s, but still related through the fenders/quarter panels. C4s looked drastically different from C3s, but still related. And so on. I can't believe how much the freaking headlights are hanging some of you up. Ferraris and Lambos used to be pop up headlights; now they are fixed projector type or whatever. Hell, the Diablo changed to fixed headlights as a mid cycle change, and actually used the headlights from the old 300ZX, I believe. Pop up headlights are sort of out of style, anyway. Does anyone still use them?

o, and the rear doesnt look too bad either
I think it sits lower in the pics because the car is strapped down to the car hauler. The rear wheel is practiacally touching the wheel well. I think it will sit a lot like the current C5 in ride height.

Both San Francisco and San Diego are favorite places for these, and I guess it's that season again.

This week's starting off with a BANG, isn't it!
yeah, i was going to say that kinda looks familliar. man, right through downtown SF with no shrouding or anything. its like GM must WANT us to see these to build up the hype.

looks pretty good, but too much C4 at the rear for my liking. still wouldn't think twice about getting one if i could afford it though.

I'm surprised that so many see little difference between this and the C5. It looks considerably different to me, and we haven't even seen the finished front yet.

I was disappointed with the nose last week when the boat shop pics surfaced, but these photos have me singing a different tune.

I knew the nose looked familiar...its the Stingray III/California Corvette, a 13 yr old concept.

I agree, it looks a lot different other having a similar size and sharing the "Vette shape" with the C5. looks wise, so far I'd say it is about as different the C5 was to the C4

I must say, I instantly like this car more than the C5. I thought the C5 styling was nothing more than a C4 run through a wind tunnel. But this car has spunk, it doesn't look to be as much of a compromise as the C5 did, to me anyway. It's kind of funny, I was a fan of the C4, and when the C5 came out, I didn't really care for the jellybean design. But now, this C6 has almost gone the way of a retro C4 in alot of ways, and thats great for me! Also, I LOVE the fender flares off the C3, also one of my favorite gens. The double tipped exhaust as opposed to the quad looks good IMO, and the round tail lights are a welcome sight too. And the wheels are a VAST improvement over the first C5 wheels.

I felt a little better about the open grille when I realized that all the C2 Stingrays had a single big grille, that ties this car into Corvette tradition for me a little bit more. I look forward to seeing a full frontal of this car, to give a final grade to the front end, but from what I've seen, I am very happy and very relieved at the same time, after the almost disappointment I felt when I first saw the C5.

Good Job GM!

I'm lookin' at that red C6 and I'm sayin' to myself "I've seen that same rough design somewhere. But where?"

And then it hit me.

All Corvettes Are Red.

John Cafaro's black car.

Look in the book. In the middle. Right after page 128. There's a color section filled with pics. On the top of the 3rd page, there's a black Corvette concept sitting in front of an F-16.

The C6 has styling and styling elements that are very similar to that concept.

It looks to me like GM used this concept as the basis for the C6, and then refined it to what we see now.

What do ya think?

I think it looks pretty cool, but I gotta see the front.
