Confirmed: C6 has fixed headlights

Just thought I'd post to confirm the rumor that everyone had heard by now. A good friend of mine works for a Tier 1 GM supplier and has seen the C6. Unfortunately he isn't what I would call a huge "auto enthusiast" so he couldn't really give me interesting details about its styling, other than he thought it looked great. I asked for pictures but whadda ya know, he'd rather not lose his job.

What I want to know is, when do we, the general public get to look at it? Or when does GM intend to release some pics.

I bet it's going to be in Chicago.

Headlights? Who cares about headlights when there is the potential of a chrome bar being planted on the front of that thing???

Oooooohhh... my stomach is churning right now.

Corvette needs to have concealed , if not 'pop-up', headlights....

Maybe I'll eat my words when I see it, but I just don't like it.

I SO hope NOT. That Chevy chrome bar has to go. NOW. Corporate styling stinks GM.

I hope they made the right choice with the headlights.

Agreed.

I don't see the C6 being shown this year... it would potentially squash 2004 Corvette sales...

Mark,

Did your buddy mention anything else that stood out about the car from what he saw... other than the headlights?

Yeah, I hope the Corvette does not lose it's heritage styling. They seem to be taking styling liberties with the headlamps, who knows what other liberties they will take. If that chrome bar goes on the Corvette, I will be very angry.

Does anyone realize that the 'Vette has had flip-lights for over 40 years straight?? Not only that, but they are just plain snazzy and cool, and they are what you expect on a 'Vette like it's a natural expectation. To eliminate them now would be to take the car into a whole new tangent and make it something it never asked to be. I remember another thread where people were complaining that in the "ON" position the headlights looked really doofy (and I agree; C4 & C5) but that's just a specific design they chose to go with at the time.. a temporarily bad decision such as that is not a reason to eliminate the lights alltogether now. I will be REALLY disappointed if I don't see flip-lights on the next 'Vette. Some things are just meant to be. Who gives those few designers the right to non-chalantly and haphazardly re-define a widely-liked mainstay that was just fine and dandy before they messed with it?? I demand we keep the flip-lights.

Shouldn't production be over for the c5 before the introduce the c6. If it was a hit, I would imagine not to many c5's would sell after that.

Mark, did he say what color it was??? I can't remember.
